Parent conduct that I can't stand............sitting behind home plate, making comments about the calls, yelling at their DD, correcting the rest of the team, and to top it off, yelling at their other child. All very loud, very distracting, and downright obnoxious.

I find myself defending "blue" more often every weekend. I don't know how anyone can take the personal verbal abuse the umps get. I've gone out between innings twice the last two weeks and said - "hey you're doing a good job. Anything you hear outside of the chalk and fence...IGNORE IT. "

Unfortunately my tactic didn't work. His calls still went against me.

Have seen parents show up to games obviously impaired. So drunk they are almost falling down. Red glassy eyes, beer breath, flushed face, loud and obnoxious and very very wrong.

Felt sooo sorry for the poor kid. :(

Your Akron story is quite funny....you can make up your stories and spread them around all you want but that doesn't make them true. Hmmm..............a parent that leaves a team one year in the middle of a game because his dd isn't playing the position HE thinks she should get and chest butts the female coach on the way out while threatening to fight her. Then spends the next winter and spring harrassing the players and parents on Facebook, only to follow them to scrimmages and games accusing them of abuse the following year. You can call the organization heads all you want, but it still won't make your crazy story true!! If a player would have been punched on the field like you claim, how did 2 umpires and 2 teams worth of fans NOT see it??? That was a good one though, I can't wait to hear your next one!!! We are having a successful, drama free year and no matter how much you try to ruin that, it is going to stay that way. Thanks for your concern Outlaws, but next time try to make the story partially believable. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Does proper etiquette also include appropriate dress?

Don't know about how the fellas feel about it, but I absolutely cringe when I see some of the skimpy outfits some of the moms wear to the fields. Seriously, after a certain age, shouldn't women stop revealing so much skin in public? Can we leave the shorty shorts with "Juicy" on the azz to the girls, ok ladies? Yeesh.

I totally agree with everything you just said except for the yelling at their other kid part. That is sometimes a necessity when the other kid is a 3 year old trying to run onto the field of play or climb the backstop. ;&

And this type of behavior doesn't help the team play better, it probably only makes things worse. The girls just want to tell them to STFU.

There are moments I would like to tell these parents that too! We typically sit as far away from these types of parents as we can. Sometimes my inner pseudo-Tourettes comes out and I tell them to cut it out.

AMEN, AND THE CLOSE CALLS GO TO THE OTHER TEAM AS WELL..I have said that for years

Todd, sadly to say with some umpires... this is a fact. I got rid of a good umpire on my staff because of this. I rate my own umpires. I'm the hardest person on umpires and I guess that is why people turned heads when I took on a rookie as my partner three years ago.

I've had catcher tell me with a grin.. don't listen to them (the parents).. they are more blinder than you... and laugh and smile which usually gets me to grin.

Personally, I have learned over the years an umpire cannot make everyone happy. There is absolutely no way to do it.

Just do your game to the best of your ability and get off the field.

My best days are when you can walk off a field... and not be noticed doing so.

Umpiring is NOT an ego thing... and the sooner the umpires realize that.. especially the new ones.. better off they will be.

I love umpiring. I do. I really love the excitement of the game. Makes me work harder to get better every game. I do my best for the girls.

I have been at tournament umpire's morning meetings and heard umpires talk... and it's a scary thing

Sunday morning umpire meetings are the scariest though. Usually guys look and see what games/teams they got and compare notes....LOL

You hear a lot of this, " I had that coach yesterday. What an idiot, blah, blah, blah.. and their fans. Whew"

So, now you got an umpire you never seen yet in the tournament coming in with an attitude of "being tough" because an umpire from Saturday has an opinion formed about you.

I'm telling you folks, it's a scary thing anymore.

"Punched"? Who said anything about "punched"? Sounds like there is more to the story...And someone saw something since there is a story.

And being an umpire and screamed at all day... it is nice to see God's beautiful creatures :lmao: sitting behind the plate area. (Just kidding)

Sounds like the only people who "saw something" were the people with the said organization...how convienent.

Oh there is more to the story....I've been ignoring this guys garbage for a year and i just chalk it up to ignorance, some people just can't move on. I tell my 12 year old girls to just ignore his taunts and insults on FB (this is why I don't have one). But when he starts making up abuse charges, I think he has crossed the line. I'm here to teach the girls softball, not entertain some lunatics demented stories about me because he is bitter I didn't play his dd in the infield. This isn't high school, move on and get over it!!!

He needs to focus his attention more on his own team and leave mine alone, we are doing just fine!
