Well where do I begin? Rain delayed the games for awhile. My hats off to the crew for getting the fields up and running. Well our first game was REAL fun.....We even had fireworks after the game!! ;&

Seriously re-evaluate that situation!!

Marty I give you credit for getting those fields up and ready. The credit stops there though. I haven't seen such poor communication since the NSA States at Tealtown last year. Have us show up for a 9:30 game Mid American ballpark. Only to get a call at 8:15 telling us we don't play till 1pm. No apology... do think everyone lives in Harrison? Our 1pm game gets moved to 3:30. So we finally start the game and two of my players almost break their legs sliding into home on field 3. Someone is going to get hurt playing on that field.

You will not see another dime from me or our team if I have any say in it!!

This tournament was a joke! Ok, rain I can understand-Times of games get pushed back-or even cancelled-I get that. We have never been to a tournament were there is no communication. We are a 10u team. Why do the 10u's always get the shaft? This tourn. was so rediculous were never notified that the 10u teams were cancelled untill we arrived at the park after waiting all day to play and then the long drive there. The last updated phone message on the rain out line was from Sat. afternoon when we arrived at ballpark in the evening. So all the 10u teams thought we were also pushed back like all the other divisions. My parents, as well as myself, were highly upset with the fact that we all drove to the ballpark for no games and no notification of the parks intentions to not letting us play on Sat. What really gets to us is that the field we were scheduled to play on was used by the older girls instead of the 10u! Then we get sent to another ballpark (which facilities were nice) but no other teams around just 10u. That's not fun for anyone when you expect to spend the day with friends that you have made with other teams, as well as the girls watching and learning from the older groups. Here's the kicker- firsts games were scheduled to be played at 9:30, teams all arrived around 8:30 for warm ups, fields we completely under water so we sat and waited yet again! Why didn't someone work on those fields before the times that they were supposed to be played on if they knew a day in advance that they were going to be played on from the schedule switch? Parents were upset that the cost also went up to $4.00 to get into gate. Why should we have to pay more to play at a different field then everyone else did? Rules on time were also messed up. When everything from the get go is bad, what makes these teams wanna come back again? I know many teams had to get rooms, eat out, use alot of gas money, and most importantly, their time for this nightmare. I heard alot of coaches and parents saying they will not return for next year and I am sorry to say that we are one of them. For the parks sake, I hope they get things together. Sorry about all of the griping, I just feel as coaches we should keep each other informed.

Thanks for the nice comments......taking the younger team to Columbus, IN tomorrow looks like alot of talent will be there should be a fun time. Alot of great teams at 16's in Ohio this year. Should be fun seeing how they all do at Nationals seems like they are going in all directions....

Yeah, I believe you were at Eggleston Park (Mid-American Ball Yard) on Sunday morning. We were told at 11:30pm Saturday night to go there also for a 9:30am game. We showed up at 8:30am. Once we got there, we were told that we weren't playing there, we were to play at Pastime at 1:00pm. A bit later we were told it was 3:30pm. What a joke. I will never play in another tournament there. Our team has never had a good experience there.

I think grounds crew did a great job getting feilds ready after rain delays!! But the scheduling of games and the no communication was terrible.

Saturday,
Upon arrival at 4:00PM our coach was informed the TD had called them about ours games being cancelled for Saturday. Our coach had not been called and other coaches said they weren?t called either. When we found out we wouldn?t be playing we decided to call the number to check the Rain Out Message. The status was from 12:10 p.m. and almost 4 hours had elapsed without another update on the rain delays. It appears that our games were cancelled on a seconds notice... You know what, if you make a mistake its better to just admit it and maybe you can maintain some kind of INTEGRITY. Complete lack of communication?

Sunday,
I think the Grounds Crew done an AWESOME job...!!! The problem was there weren?t enough of you to go around. I was amazed with what you pulled off @ Eggleston Park (Mid-American Ball Yard) in getting the field?s ready to play on Sunday morning (WOW). You accomplished this even after letting them sit under water the night before.

We all understand rain delays and having to wait that?s not an issue. The issue is that decisions need to be made if games can be played and safety needs to be addressed as well when making those decisions. I know that I would never want to see anyone get hurt because of a little money. These decisions then need to be affectively communicated. It goes from one end of the spectrum to the other, outstanding grounds crew and poor communication from TD.

I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THIS TOURNAMENT!!! My daughter wouldn?t play here again even if it was all expenses paid? TERRIBLE COMMUNICATION!!! RIDICULOUS GAME SCHEDULING!!! DUGOUTS UNDER WATER!!! SLIPPERY FIELD CONDITIONS!!! If you play here you better hope it doesn?t RAIN!!!

I'm very surprised since we were sent home after a call at 8:20am Sunday morning that we were cancelled for the day (we were already at the fields), no games being played at Eggleston (Mid-American Ball Field). I guess lying can be added to this mix. This unacceptable behavior by this tournament director has been a constant thread all summer at this ballpark and unfortunately for our team we had to experience it firsthand. It is a pity since so many players were eagar to play ball on Sunday.

I think someone should start a thread on the General Softball forum with their complaints about Pastime Park. If we post these complaints there I think more people will be made aware of the **** they pull at that park. They are quick to take our money and give little or nothing in return. We as a fastpitch family need to hit them where it hurts....quit giving these people our hard earned money....

You got that right Mike. Like we have already discussed, I too don't care for that park. My DD's next team (next year) will not have that place on it's schedule. Note to all teams; please put in your try out posts whether you plan on playing at Pastime so the smart ones can decide who's try outs to avoid. Might be an okay place for a rec league but not a serious team. Pastime = Not for winners, only losers.

I met Marty for the first time this weekend as this being our first trip to the park. I think his heart is in the right place, I just think he needs to take the learnings from this year and use them to improve for next year. Communication is free and there there can never be too much, so there is no excuse for that. We don't play too many local tourneys, but hopefully this park and others in Cincy can improve enough to draw top teams, so we can play more around the Cincy area.

Give the guy a break... it's his first year running tourneys and at that a sportscomplex... I bet he learned a lot this year and things will get better each year... I agree things could have been done better... did anybody make suggestions to him so he knows what he needs to improve on?

Did your first year of coaching/playing go as planned? Did your plans work for you? Or did you learn from your mistakes and make the next year better and then even better the year after that?

We dealt with him last year in fallball and he's gotten better since then... he'll improve as he learns... just talk to him about your concerns.
