What's the magic number to be considered too many pitches for a high school pitcher? Saw a team last night leave their girl out there for 184 pitches in a meaningless game.

that's too many , but there is no rule. Did they have any other pitchers available?? That happens often in HS.

I know in baseball that 100 pitch mark is kind of the number where you start feeling like its time to make a change. softball pitchers are obviously different. but 184 seemed absurd to me. they have one other pitcher, who threw 125 the night before. mind you this is a team already out of playoffs, and playing their last game of the year. left this poor girl out there to give up 15 runs.

184 pitches is very high. That’s 26-27 per inning based on 7innings. I like to see our pitchers under 110 pitches per 7innings.
In 9.5 games (7innings) (67.2 innings) one of our pitchers averaged 103 pitches per game.
One of our other pitchers threw 6.5 games (7innings) (43.2 innings) and averaged 117 pitches per game.

I think anything under 120 is good. IMO
