Best of luck VE, great group of girls.
Both teams look to be playing great "overal" with some very impressive wins along the way.

Congratulations to Valley Extreme Red on their appearance in the Championship game against the C Mass Thunder. ?C Mass Thunder edged out the Lasers Silver in two innings of ITB. Represent Ohio well Extreme and keep the trophies in Ohio! Go get 'em.
?
Lots of love to the Silver girls. ? [smiley=engel017.gif] ?Congratulations on a great run and way to go playing all of those extra games to get out of the "losers" bracket, finish first in your bracket, and make it to the elite 8. ?Always keep in mind that "on given day . . ."

Congratulations to the Slammers for a great run in the Pony Nationals, too.

See you in Roseville, Slammers. ?Get ready for the Sun and the Heat

Lets show California what Ohio can do!!!! ? ?;D

Valley Red must have an awesome pitcher (or two or three) - three shutouts in the championship bracket.

I'm not familiar with the Pony nationals structure--are the Slammers eliminated now even though they only lost one game if I am understanding these posts correctly?

At Ponys, once you get to the Sweet Sixteen, it's single elimination.

Erin Gabriel got the job done, I was there and she only gave up two hits and KO'd about 12 batters.....at least six were caught looking at a called third strike.

Report from the Championship game is that Valley Extreme Red is winning 8-3 in I believe the 5th inning.

GO VALLEY EXTREME!!!!!!!

PONY uses a 3 tier structure.

3 game Pool Play seeding into the next level
3 game min Elim Play (double elim with reentry - not triple elim)
Championship Play (single elim)

in 10u and 12u - top 2 teams in each bracket advance into championship play.
in 16u and 18u - only the bracket winner advances

Congratulations to the 10u Lasers (Champions), 10u Classics (3rd), 12u Valley Extreme Red, and 12u Slammers (3rd). Ohio had 2 of the top 4 in each bracket. It was a shame that Slammers and Extreme were on the same side of the board.

Let's see if the older girls can match the pace. ;D ;D ;D

Looks like the Lasers gold 10U won the championship over a very solid team 9-7! Lasers had their 2nd girl of the tourney hit one over the fence!! congrats girls and congrats to the Classics 10U who had a great showing themselves :) Keep up the hard work!

On various dicussions on here in the past, people have indicated that a certain Ohio team with a very low number of losses has not been the best sports when faced with adversity. How was the sportsmanship today?

With that many called third strikes, someone had to be livid at the umpire.

That had to be a great game by this pitcher as the Slammers have hitters one thru ten.

This can only help the recruiting for the Red team for next year. Tryouts will probably have twice the number show up as they would have.

Congrats to the Ohio teams and their successes at Pony

Question for Dave - are Pony rules on age groups different?
I know two very talented Valley Extreme pitchers from the second year 14u team had great success playing down in the 12u Pony Nationals championship games the last two years. (Modic with Slammers last year and Gabriel this year with 12s) I thought you could only move up not down in age group and only have one add/drop per season?
Just a question for my own future reference and knowledge.

Congrats to the girls, coaches and parents. ?The efforts for the season have proven themselves in the end !! ?Best of luck to the teams the remainder of 07 and in 08 !!

Hey golfnut, shoot me a PM with some details on the 10U? Did you face the solid pitching that was needed in preparation for Alabama? Tell #1 that we are proud of her! Anyway, congrats to the Lasers Gold on your Championship and hope you run deep down south at ASA's! ;D

Valley Extream Red, congrats on running the table in 12U! I'm sure most of the Ohio FASTPITCH community is proud of your achievement! Do you have any more details on what was seen at the 12U level? :)

PickleDad, where are the sound scouting reports that I'm so use to getting...lol? Shoot me a PM when you get a chance. ;)

Hi, Joni.

PONY rules are the same in all age groups - except for the pitching distance. 10u - 35' and 18u - 43'.
You are permitted 1 roster move as a player, and you can play in an age group that you are eligible for. Playing 14u while 12u eligible doesnt prohibit you from using your move (prior to July 14th except for an injury replacement) up or down.
