Congrats to Lasers Gold. Close game, down a run midway, ... then WHAM! What a way to come alive and TAKE IT!! National Champions!

Same to Valley Extreme! Was fun watching you guys keep the big trophy in Ohio, just the wrong Ohio team though ... :p . Speaking with #11's dad during the game, we feel your pain of trying to break thru against that C.Mass pitcher & defense, don't know what it was but she was hard to get in rhythm against but you guys busted thru in the 6th with a huge inning to take charge, just like the Laser Gold. Hmm, guess that's the way champions were going to be made today. Congrats Coach Kiser and the rest, still remember the old days getting started with the dd's at 10u, tell dd Pickles is jealous :'( :).

Regarding the Slammers, maybe I should have just left this alone, but, ... well, ... I just can't ... TOUGH LOSS. You guys handled it with grace and class though. Was fun watching you all "banter" back & forth with the Valley Extreme people, great example of INTENSE competition in a very tight game combined with good sportsmanship. Chin up, and take it to the OC Batbusters next week. See you in the finals? ;) ... Nuthin' standing in da way, ... except about 30 Cali teams. ::) We ain't afraid of no Lakewood Ladies or teams from the OC (not yet anyways  ) Safe travels!

RAMSftbl : the valley extreme pitcher that moved down to play for the 12s is erin gabriel..she is young enough to play down. She just plays up..she actually should be playing 12u. She chooses to play up.

Even though I have nothing to do with this, I was wondering if someone would be so kind to direct a few parents that have contacted me as to what the status is of 18-U Pony Nationals. Is there somewhere I can go online to direct me to the answers that they may have

Thank you in advance

Additonally - the Valley Extreme Pitcher- and they are ALL good on the Red 12U team- the 12U team deserves to be recognized in total - chooses to play up in ASA and NSA at the 14U level- the 14U Valley extreme team she plays on has not played PONY thus she didn't move up or down in PONY - she played her age appropriate level - and kicked **** - way to go Lil' E!!

The Valley Extreme 12U Red v the Slammers game was a classic example of two pitchers dominating a game. Both of these teams have great hitters from 1 through 9 in the batting order. Erin Gabriel for the Valley Extreme Red gave up two hits, walked one, and had 9 strikeouts. Her team made 0 errors.
Abbey Filliez from the Slammers gave up three hits, two walks, and had 17 strikeouts. Her team made one error. The difference in the game was that the Valley Extreme Red was able to get two hits in a row, a single and a double, and then the next batter drove one to deep left field which went off the glove of the outfielder resulting in two runs. There is no doubt about it-- great pitching will nullify great hitters. This game was an instant classic--especially if you enjoy great pitching.

Great showing by the Ohio teams in this tourney. To get 3 of the final 8 from Ohio says a great deal about Ohio fastpitch. Two years in a row for Ohio!!! Congratulations to the Valley Extreme Red, Ohio Slammers, and the Lady Lasers Silver for their great showing at the Pony National Tournament.

Dave,Thanks for clarifying
pepe could not agree more with you VE Red was tough all year and played solid ball this week by the sounds of things.
Erin is not only a great pitcher, but even a better kid with a great family. Not taking anything away from the other girls of Red as they have done a great job all season!!!

CONGRATS ladies in Red and all the other teams for putting on a great showing in the north !

Thanks for your concern for our team and player being "legal". Our 14U Blue team never even registered for Pony this season. Erin and Jenna were both 12 years old by the age status set up by Pony and every other santioning group.
As for the comment on here about "rent a pitcher". I never hear anything last year about one of my pitchers going with a team to help them win the Pony Nationals. Except for what myself an some other supporter posted on here.

This season Erin and her Family decided to stay with the Valley Extreme 12U Red team and the results were a National Championship for our organization. In defense of Jenna the option to play for Valley Extreme was not available or I feel she would have also stayed loyal to our organization.

This was not the first time a player or players have moved around for Nationals. Just look at the coaches looking as well as indiviual players. This wouldn't even be an issue if both had not won Pony Nationals in back to back fashion.

Congratulations VALLEY EXTREME 12U RED team on your 2007 Pony National Championship.
Thanks

Bill, you certainly don't have to defend the girls as there was nothing to defend. I probably should have asked Dave for clarification in a PM as I think it was misinterpeted. As you know, I know both girls and they are great young ladies. I could not be happier for them on their accomplishments. You are very fortunate to have them be a part of your team and organization.
Valley Extreme has done a great job with your teams and players over the last 5 years, and that is a compliment to the coaches and their dedication.

Best of luck at ASA in IL with the Ladies in Blue, and again congrats to Chad and the Ladies in Red !

While legal under the rules for players to play for other teams, and for teams to load up for the tournament, it certainly leaves room for discussion as to whether the rule makers could or should attempt to discourage it.

Fact is, it is highly unlikely that either the Slammers without Jenna's help, or Valley Extreme without Erin's help, would have won National Championships. ? ?:-[

I agree that a PM to Dave would have been best. This is the Ohio Fastpitch which will allow some contriversal discussions to occur not like the wpansa site that run that site like a war camp. Step out of line of wpansa and Zack will HACK!!!!!

I'm very defensive of not just the two pitcher ,but all of my players. We did assemble a unique group of 11 wonderful ladies and families. Thanks for all of your comments about our teams and organization. You have come close many of time to pulling the trigger to joining Valley Extreme.
Best of luck to all of the Rampage teams in the 2007 Nationals and 2008 seasons.

You can't blame young girls that want to continue to play when their team is not particpating at a particular Nationals like Pony. Both years we didn't attend and Iwe allowed both girls to join a team to continue to play.
I can tellyou that the adding of roster player for Nationals is why we are going ASA. You qualify for the Nationals and your roster is frozen!!! No additions for that event.

I think the outcomes might have been different, but do you know if all the other 58 teams didn't add a player ???? I think it is common practice to add usually a pitcher for NSA and Pony Nationals.

? I think that you will find that most of the sanctioning bodies have seriously tightened up roster adds and moves. ?We all want the team that qualified to be the team that plays. ?On the otherhand, you cant restrict things too much or you could kill a team that happens to have some bad luck.

One of the things that we coaches seem to take pride in is finding the loopholes that enable us to strengthen our teams. ?;D

That said - the Valley Extreme organization IS and HAS EVERY RIGHT TO BE proud of what their 12u Red team has accomplished. ?I dont care if they added Jenny Finch for Nationals. ?It takes a well structured TEAM to do what they did. ?They hit, they scored, and played sound - near flawless defense.

Congratulations to Coach Kiser and his girls. ? I expect to hear good things from Bill's squad and know that Sam's and Greg's teams will do well at PONY next week. ?Lindsay and Bruce's 18s will do well too (just as long as they don't do it against me. ? ;))

The important thing is that the Ohio and Western PA teams are showing the rest of the country just what
good ball we play here.
