Sorry Warren- wasn't really directing my comment at you...more directed at the bulleyes that the Chill and the Lasers seem to always have on their back but when you are that good, it comes with the territory

Thanks cendro and vikingsix for the info. Sounds like they are trying to pull off what some top so cal teams do, pulling a few players from arizona, nevada ect. Whats there practice schedule like?

My opinion, since this is a 14u preseason poll (not top ten teams in Ohio), let people mention them if they think they are worthy. let the haters hate

If you are listing other teams other then Ohio teams then Team PA should be listed.

Yup, include them too, as well as the Crown Point Bulldogs. Why not?
Should we start a 14 Preseason Poll by State? those of us that have seen these teams play recently can chime in.

Why not include the US while you are at it. Come on, this is OHIO Fastpitch Connection. If you are going to bring in teams from out of state just because some girls from Ohio play for them, you will be bringing in a lot of teams.

I guess my thought is if you have played one of these out of state teams, why not give them props if it's due? What's the harm? This is 14u...teams looking to compete should be venturing out of Ohio for many reasons- to play the best, to prepare for Nats, to Showcase. What's wrong with letting other OFC readers know who are the better teams out there in the 14u age group? JMHO.

I am good with that. The problem is, how many teams actually venture out of Ohio to play some of these other solid teams? I think it is starting to happen more and it should happen more. Other teams should know who the surrounding area teams are that are competitive. That way they know you can travel 3 hours away and play some of the better teams around.

No need to include them in ohio top ten poll, but there's no harm in posting about them, especially if 75% of the roster contains ohio talent. jmho

Exactly Strohbro. Start spreading the word on the good competition an play them....it'll make your team better. Even take it further and invite the top teams from the surrounding states (MI, PA, KY, WV, IN, NY) do some scrimmages, each invites some colleges to attend a one day friendly/showcase.

You might have a hard time getting college coaches to show up to scrimmages...especially if it is during the spring because they are in season. Just sayin. ;)

Yeah Klump, this would have to be done in the summer. I just think the idea of playing the best in the friendly format is a good thing. Figure pick a central location and invite top teams from neighboring states. Just a thought

I absolutely love what Matt Grover is doing with his 13 U Ohio Classics team . This is one guy I know for sure that realizes its not about himself , or organization , (and its a good one) and just wants to get all of his players off to college , if they choose to do so. He has made decisions that most head coaches couldnt make , or wouldnt make about players , parents ect.... He could care less about the polls, and yes he wants to beat everyone , but he is always promoting his girls and trying to get them better , best of luck Classics 98.

I forgot to mention another 14 U group to look out for , if they play together , Ohio Nightmare! May not be at the top of the class yet , but could suprise a few teams ! Something to be said of some misfit girls who are starting to come together ! Love the underdog!
