Preseason 14U Poll

Of the teams I have seen and or played I would rank the following tier1: (no sig in order listed) Buckeye Heat 97, Static 97, Lasers Orange, Classics 97, - right behind them at tier 2 would be: Buckeye elite, Hawks Buelow, lasers gray, vipers silver, hawks lenos and others that i know are tough (most of these I have not seen play): static 98, hawks shepherd, nightmare, Nitro, Hawks Hoff 97 - and I know there are more - one thing that keeps some very good teams from getting recognized is the tourneys they play in .. for example the Metro was a great one to have your team seen and measured up against the best 14u's .. if you are not playing those teams, your team can't be accurately measured and get credit for how good they are. It always amazes me how many really good teams schedule around the harder venues.

All in all the 14u age is very interesting - there are a lot of very good teams that any given game can win- that was evidenced by the very few blowouts at 14u last weekend in the Metro - several 3-5 run wins but that is normal - very few RR's at all....

Classics 98 and Grand Slam will be up there as well.

HOH Inferno as well.. heard they are tough.. bottom line probably 20 very good teams that could win any given weekend...

Overall, I'd say that 14U is a bit weak this year. With that said, I'd say Classics 97, Static 97, Buckeye Elite 97, Buckeye Heat 97, and Lasers Gray are the top 14's thus far. I haven't seen Stingrays play yet, so can't comment there. Blue definitely hasn't shown a whole lot so far, and should have a tough go of it in Colorado, not to mention Cali and PGF.

Could not agree more...that's alot of $$$ (might be better served later down the road)

Cincy Doom just won a huge tourney that had Chill Gold (formerly Lasers Red) in the field. They have to be near the top... not that these lists matter. :) Not associated with the Doom, but I was very impressed when i saw the brackets.

I think these lists matter in that it gets word out about who the good teams are. I think where these lists go wrong is if say Static98 beats Static97 during a tournament but Static97 wins the tournament. I have seen a lot of the time people get a bit crazy wondering why people would still vote 97 ahead of 98. Beating a team once is nice but you still need to be able to win the whole thing or place in top 5. And for the record if we ever play Static97 I am going to ride Kavin like he is Seabiscuit!!

Now that we have seen some scores/ tourni's....
Classics 97
Cinci Static 97 & 98
Stingrays 97 & 98
Lasers Gray
Lasers Orange
Buckeye Elite 97
Buckeye Heat 97
Hawks Lenos
Hawks Shepard
Grand Slam
Heart of Ohio Nitro
Heart of Ohio Inferno

Not so sure about Laser's Blue....its hard to say how they stack up at 14u with them playing 16u at Tiger Town & Lasers -and doing average at best Lasers and below average at Tiger Town. Don't think the Laser's Green are making a strong showing either.....

Definitely agree, These are the best teams in Ohio at the 14u age level. You may have left off a few teams but we can add them later after Stingrays.

REx has Lasers Orange peaking, they looked great start to finish last weekend... Classics 97 are very solid, they beat us 8-6 in a great game on Saturday with both teams hitting and playing defense.. each team had a OTF HR in that game ... right now Orange has my vote as playing the best, Classics right behind them.

Static 97 placed 2nd in the 18u Sluggerfest this past weekend. Lost the championship game in bottom 7 due to a 2-out 2-run single...heartbreak...

He made new friends along the way ;-))

This team needs pitching if it is to be considered a top team at 14U JMHO

The girls played well this weekend at Sluggerfest & the KY Bluegrass Blaze (champion) is a very strong team. Their pitching & hitting were outstanding & it was a heartbreaker to lose 3-2 but their maturity allowed them to stay strong the whole game & pull it out at the end & this is what I want my team to take away from the experience. I could not have asked anymore from my girls as getting in 8 games against 18U's in the heat tested their resolve & endurance. Hopefully this was one step in helping us prepare fromt he ASA/USA's.

Further, congrats to all the teams who achieved their USA berth this weekend at the 14U States especially to the Lasers Orange - well done!!
