OKLAHOMA CITY – The Morningside College Mustangs pulled out a 4-0 win over the Friends University Falcons in an elimination game in the NAIA Opening Round at Ann Lacy Stadium in Oklahoma City, Okla.

In the first inning, Morningside capitalized on a pair of Falcon miscues to plate two runs and jump ahead.

After Hali Walters (SO/Longmont, Colo.) retired the Mustangs in order in the second, an RBI single by Rebecca Riley in the third stretched the lead to three runs.

The Falcons managed to put two runners on in the bottom of the third on Walters' first career hit and a bunt single by Cassie Jones (SR/Erie, Colo. ), but Mustangs' starter Hallie Misiaszek got a strikeout to end the threat.

Following a leadoff double by Halley Ruley (FR/Sylmar, Calif. ) in the sixth, Misiaszek got the next three hitters out to again keep the Falcons off the scoreboard.

Walters battled in the circle throughout, striking out 10 batters with three earned runs allowed over seven innings. The first-team All-KCAC performer finishes her solid sophomore campaign with a conference-leading 19 wins.

Misiaszek also reached double-figures in strikeouts for the Mustangs (31-10) while limiting the Falcons to three hits.

Carson Cameron ignited the Morningside offensive attack with three hits and three runs scored.

Morningside will now face No. 16-ranked Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) in another elimination game later today. The Mustangs fell 4-2 to Olivet Nazarene yesterday (May 13).

The Falcons, the KCAC postseason tournament champs, finish the season with a 28-19 overall record.
