DEFENDING TOURNAMENT CHAMPION UHV EARNS TOP PICK IN RRAC SOFTBALL PRESEASON POLL

WACO, Texas -- A year after winning the RRAC tournament as the third seed, the University of Houston-Victoria (Texas) was the unanimous first-place selection in the 2019 RRAC Softball Preseason Poll. UHV was the pick over 2018 conference co-champion LSU Alexandria (La.) and 2018 tournament runner-up Texas A&M University-Texarkana
UHV scored 32 runs in three RRAC tournament games last year. The Jaguars rallied in the championship game to win, 10-9, over then first-year program TAMUT. The Eagles earned a measure of respect after nearly winning the tournament.
Our Lady of the Lake, which tied LSUA for the best conference record last year, was picked to finish fourth, one point ahead of Huston-Tillotson University (Texas). University of the Southwest (N.M.), which will have its first new head coach in 14 years, was voted sixth.
Voting was conducted by the eight head coaches in the conference. Results of the poll are shown below with points calculated through a 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 format. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
