Probably took Kavin 2 hours to get the picture right...:lmao:

Les - you know me to well. What took longer was all the pics we had to do w/ the individual sponsor banners. Shannon said he felt like he was in a NASCAR winner circle - changing hats every minute :)

The '98 team should be very excited. The sky is the limit for them. I'll get you the stuff I have been feeding my girls so they can shoot up like a bean stalk by next year :). Also, I am trying to get in touch w/ the SCorpion's coach to see how the two girls are doing who got injured this week - I'll let you know.

For those wondering, one of my '97 girls hit a foul shot down first base Sat evening & it off the fense & hit their first baseman in the face (yes no game face). She ended up getting stitches, one broken off tooth & 2 teeth that basically fell out - but put back in - it is not known yet if the teeth will survive. Then on Sun afternoon, another Scorpion's girls slid into home while playing our 98 team & almost certain she had a clean break of her ankle. The scream & pain in her face is one I will always remember especially as we were helping them load her in their SUV.

For the tourney we played in, it was 4GG for $200 plus $25 ISA registration. If it was not for the rain we would have gotten in at least 6 games & max of 8 (if we would have lost the winner bracket final). Regardless , you cant find a tourney around here for $200 w/ a 4 GG. Joe also holds an 8U division & entry is "FREE" for them. He even gave them team & individual trophies for 1st thru 3rd place. I had a chance to sit & talk w/ him Friday evening at the hotel - he is in it for the kids w/out question!! Also very interesting to talk to - he's seen a lot in his softball years. I applaud him!!!!

CONGRATS STATIC, way to represent Ohio.

The umpires were very complimentary of the girls. One even asked to have a new ball signed by all of them. He felt that every one of them would go on to play college ball, and he and his wife thought it would be cool to go back and say they had a piece of memoribilia from early in their playing days.

Another umpire said he thought they were the best hitting 12U team he had seen. They are a special group of girls, and the coaches continue to do a wonderful job of teaching them and getting the most out of them.

I think the thing I liked the best about the weekend was the girls were able to give Coach Kenny a very special 50th birthday present on Sunday w/ their championship. The girls really respect & like him a ton & it showed w/ all the hugs he got when he was presnted the championship plaque!!

Coach Kenny is definitely the best!!!

ISA and SEAA runs very good tournaments down there and for an awesome price. Most of Joe`s tournaments are listed at $250.
Ive talked with Joe several times thru the past few years, he is a good guy. Try talking with him over the phone though, with his graspy voice you do have to pay full attention to every word.

Congrats Static 97!
Joe is a very nice guy, just don't get him started on Obama, Lol. He does charge a gate fee, which was $10.00 or $12.00 per person for a weekend pass if I remember correctly. It is still a good deal and the venue down there is outstanding. City Park is a great place to play. You won't find a better setting to go play softball. We went to Dollywood the day before the tournament and the kids had a great time. You have to go to Bennetts Barbecue and/or Huck Finns to eat (get the gator tail), great restaurants. We went to the Joe Oliver Memorial tournament May 1st/2nd. The competition was very good. The White Lightning are a good team, we played them 3 times and lost the first two (3-0 and 2-0), we finally beat them in the losers final 3-2. The funny thing was other Tennesse coaches and parents came up to us congratulated us on beating them, they were rooting for us to beat them. There #1 pitcher throws very hard and she hits the ball very well. She may throw harder than anyone we have here in Ohio. We couldn't finish it though, we had to do it the hard way and fight our way out of the losers bracket (5 games on Sunday). We ran out of gas in the final (our 4th game in a row) against another good pitcher from the Thunder. This was our third trip down there and it never gets old. There were two other Ohio teams down there when we went (Doom 97 and Nightmare), we (Ohioans) should just make it our Spring Training site for softball, Lol. The weather was great this year, partly sunny and in the 80's if I remember correctly. I would highly recomend taking a team down to Pigeon Forge. Good Job Static!
