The Valley Extreme organization has always done a nice job hosting tourneys, and this one is for a great cause as well at a very reasonable price. Also a good opportunity for newly formed teams to ss how they do vs. competition and what they need to work on during the winter. The Softball Zone Radio Show also plans to broadcast one of the championship games from this tourney. Wouldn't it be cool for your DD to listen to the downloaded broadcast after the game and hear her and her teammates' names?

My vote is to broadcast the 14u game, lol.

Plus Meg's team is 14u and very good, so maybe a win win to broadcast her teams game, if they get there. :)

Tom ... not entirely my call, and some will depend on the schedule of games as Ricky will have over a 2 hour drive home, but I was kind of thinking the same thing ... plus, as of now, there are more 14U teams registered vs. the other age groups ... quality of the teams looks good as well, but the other divisions look good there too ... we will see ...

Some new prizes for the tournament raffle have been added. The ONLY way to participate in the raffle is to attend the tournament! The raffle prizes so far are:
Louisville Slugger Xeno bat
Demarini Black Ops Rolling Bag
Overnight Stay at Marriott Key Center
Akron Racers 4 pack tickets
Akron Racers jersey (2) (raffled off individually)
Jennie Finch stamp-signed t shirts (3)(raffled off individually)

Additionally, all players and coaches (max 15 per team) will receive a Stay in Softball drawstring "backpack" with coupons and SIS vinyl sticker.
We are continuing to work on more prizes and some special events at the tournament as well. This will definitely be a fun tournament to benefit
Ohio/PA softball players and softball in general! If you haven't considered attended, PLEASE DO! It is an EASY and FUN way to give back! If you can't attend but want to help, please consider donating a prize for the raffle, purchasing a SIS t shirt for your player or donating your time at another SIS event.

Yes, we will be doing a used equipment collection at the tournament too. I was going to get a flyer out to the coaches of the teams coming to let them know about it a little closer to the event (so no one forgets).

That would be nice! Meg has personally contacted many organizations and has written letters asking coaches and heads of organizations to consider attending the event (or forwarding the information on to their organization's coaches). Only two coaches (thanks Alanna Barker/Lady Lookouts and Danny Peterson/Coventry Fury) acknowledged the letter and responded.
The event has also been advertised here, Facebook, our website, Valley Extreme's website and OFC Facebook. If you have any other suggestions for places to advertise, please PM me and we will get it there. We would love to see more 10u teams too. I know it is a bad weekend for the older girls because many schools have Homecoming that weekend.
