DD came into tonights game with 14 HRs for the season. Needed 4 to tie state single season record. She hits 15 and 16 which court toward her season total. Then #17 in the 6th inning....BUT the skies open up when the next hitter comes up and before the last out of the inning is recorded. Thus HR #17 never happened, so she sits at 16 in 23 games with 2 regular season games and tournaments to go.

But I fail to see the bad luck in the story
She has at least 3 more games to go, and from the sounds of it, she will probably get the record. Now if she hit a towering drive to center field with a tailwind, clearly heading out, and a Canadian goose gets in the way, and the ball drops straight down, into the CF glove, well, that's bad luck brother.

Impressive. Kid with record, Taylor Kirian, had a nice year as a freshman at Akron this season. Good company for your DD to be in!

There is not a single thing in High School ball that is "official" except for a win or a loss. Simply put, she hit it over and the coach should count it in the stats. This forum would probably agree in that we will count it as well. Great job and it sounds as though that one, official or not, won't matter here in a few more games anyway!

How far did she hit it? It had to be a monster shot to take a run from the other team. JK
