June McCune - Bio

Performance psychologists agree that the standouts in sports require two distinct characteristics, "the rage to master" and "ability to learn quickly." These are skills that have been identified in greats like Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Serena Williams, and few others. These are the two traits that anyone who coaches June McCune also possesses.

Not many 12-year-olds stay home from hanging out with friends because they WANT to spend their weekend in a garage. The work is never "work" to June. It's not a matter of how many hours June practices or works out a week because it's what she just does. She will disappear for hours working on tiny little components of her swing (75 mph exit velo) or working to shave hundredths of a second off her 1.65 second home to 2B pop-time (independently verified)

As a player, June's stats are off the charts for girls 3-4 years older than her. At 12U, to have a 70+ mph exit velo, 60+ mph overhand velocity, and a consistent sub 1.8s poptime are simply unheard of. Yes, June is good, but it's what June does for the players around her that is more important. As a catcher, her skill provides extra strikes and outs. These are not stats that show up on a chart. Even more, June is constantly encouraging and cheering her teammates or often offering skill advice while in the dugout or at practice.

As part of the spring / summer season with the Steel City Cyclones 11U team, June batted over .500 with an OPS over 1.200. What'smore is that she only gave up 3 stolen bases while catching 75% of the innings after 80+ games.

Now in the fall as a true 12U team (now known as the PA Stingrays 07)., June's .525 batting average is coupled with an OPS that has passed 1.310. In fall play, June led the team to a 27-2-1 record with 3 championships in 3 tournaments played including the talent will PGF Fall Invitational - 12U Premier,USSSA Crown Trophy 12A (Virginia) ,and Pittsburgh Tigers Pumpkin Smash 14UA

In January 2019, Softball Nation named June their 12U MVP at the All-Americantournament in Orlando!

June has a perfect 4.0 GPA. She also runscross-country in the fall along with several other extracurricular activities
