I do not agree that bat speed alone will help you hit faster pitching. If your bat speed is for instance 70 mph (rather fast) and you compare that to a 45 mph bat speed (rather slow depending on the age or level of play) l'd bet that if you could measure the difference of how fast the bat get to contact somehow, that it would not enough of a difference to get the bat on the ball if the timing is off ever so slightly. I think that bat speed is important for the distance you can hit the ball but without the proper timing that would allow you to catch up to the faster pitching I think you are out of luck. Proper load toe touch and heal plant will allow you to catch up to any speed of pitching. Thats my two cents for whatever its worth.

I agree! I think we all do...bat speed and hitting fast pitching, are two different issues...that is why I created the other post about hitting fast pitching. Plus, the OP was about increasing bat speed. Which I always have thought increasing bat speed would make the ball travel farther. Being successful against fast pitching is about timing.

Pull the front elbow turn the back hand and pull the back hip around a locked out front leg. Create a swing where the front elbow drives back to pitcher keeping the front shoulder closed. Creating a short to ball swing.

Tim

Tim, could you explain the "turn the back hand" part of your swing in more detail? Thanks.

Turn the back hand is the same as turning the barrel! The hand action of the top hand is that of unscrewing a light bulb on the ceiling or opening a door!

Not sure if its what Time is saying here but a lot teach top hand turns back of hand to the pitcher. Thus turning the barrel and not flattening the barrel before you swing!

Why do you care Brett your kid falls out of bed SMASHING! Lol!

Haha most of what my kids do well is attributable to help they get from people smarter about it than I am, like you and Bouldersdad! My oldest has hit twice as many HR's after getting help from Tim than all the years before combined. If the one you have to put up with doesn't stop growing, it's gonna be a handful getting all those arms and legs doing the right things at the right times!

Yes turn the back is turn the barrel. I like the light bulb analogy by the way
