Top 10u teams

I watched the Lasers White play in 12u friendly and they are the real deal and should be a top 10u team.

Lots of great comments by Jasbo73 with Ohio Classics!!! It is funny we even talk about a 10U poll for girls softball. But then consider the amount of girls and teams that love the sport, love to compete, and have a blast win or lose. It is a lot of fun to coach an athletic, hard working group of girls, at any age level!!! I would add to Jasbo73's 10U list - teams from southern Ohio - Cincy Slammers and Cincy Static Purple. These teams can pitch, have talented girls, and are well coached. Julie and Lou will have these teams ready to play. And I would not leave off the Ohio Classics from Jasbo's list - they have a good team. A ton of teams will be a lot better in the spring, than they were last fall!! Ohio Storm, Ice Red, Lasers, Vipers, Classics, Cincy Slammers, Outlaws, Sundogs, Venom, Cincy Static, Wolfpack, Sabotage, OFC Heat, Buckeye Heat, etc..... are all going to have solid teams. It will be a lot of fun this summer!!

Who is going to organize the 10U poll this year?

I will be happy to run the 10u poll again this season. I ran it the last 2 yrs and coached 3 yrs at 10U.

I will start a 10u Preseason poll after the Spano Tourny next week.

If anyone has objections let me know.

I have a question on the polls, I am sort of new to Ohio but I have gone to a lot of the fall and indoor tournaments. (Trying to figure out a potential good fit for my daughter.). I have seen almost all of the teams above play, the only one I have not seen are the 10u lasers. Someone posted they were playing in 12u, are they playing all tournaments at 12u?

i am assuming their reputation proceeds them if they are on the list without being seen? Once again just trying to get the lay of the land here in Ohio

They played a few weeks ago at a 12u friendly and went 3 and 0, so they have been seen. They are a 10u team who can be seen playing 10u or up at 12u often, but not always.

As Mili28 stated above, They are mixing in a handful of 12U tournies, but will play 10U for the qualifiers, Laser Nation, Stingrays, GAPPS Etc.

It is great seeing all the great 10u teams in Ohio. I would say enjoy them while they are young and sit back relax and watch them grow into the fantastic players they will become.

Storm 02 over Ice, 5-3 I believe was the final score.

Watched some very good teams at spano this weekend. Storm '02 went 7-0. Gave up only 6 or 7 runs and had 3 shutouts by 3 different pitchers. They will be tough as well as classics, ohio ice-red, c.o. lady vipers. Thers a round robin scrimmage late april that will show how the teams stack up against each other

OK, Here is how I plan on running the 10u Poll.

I will be basically running things the same way "Ringer" did it back in the day. ( 2009-10 sounds so long ago huh?) Below are the basic rules and regulations on the 10U Poll. I took these FAQ's from Ringers original Poll Thread. (If its not broke then why fix it, right??)

I will run 1 preseason Poll. It will be next week (3-11). After that I will start the weekly polls the week of April 22nd.

For those of you who dont know me. I coached in 10U for 3 seasons and had some pretty successful teams. I am now in 12u as the coach of Thunder Elite '00. This is the 3rd year for me running the 10U Coaches Poll.

How to vote

PM me(Oiler Pride)your top 10 teams ranked in order 1 thru 10 on by Tues night 11pm

Example:
1. Swamp rats
2. Big City Cowboys
3. MyTeam
.
.
.
10 The Whoevers

Include who you coach for.

Votes must be in by Tuesday night. (I usually tally votes early in the AM on Wed) Results will typically be posted by Noon on wednesday. Feel free to add comments to your vote. I like to hear some insight on the tournaments and top teams.


FAQ

Q. Who is eligible to vote?
A. Coaches and assistant coaches of travel ball teams. However, only one ballot per team is counted. There is also certain number of special exception voters that cast ballots. These are addicted status OFC members who have coached and voted in the past but do not necessarily coach a team this year.

Q. What if I want a special exception to vote?
A. PM me why you think you should be included in the voting. You must have addicted status. Those that do vote with an exception are "pillars" in the OFC community and know Ohio softball. The comments I receive with their votes indicate they take it serious.

Q. How are the points calculated?
A. First place votes get 10 points, 2nd place gets 9 point, so on and so forth with 10th place getting one point. Point are totaled and ordered.

Q. Can I vote for my own team?
A. Yes, if you feel you deserve the ranking then by all means.

Q. Do you modify the results?
A. No, I tally the votes and let the chips fall where they may.

Q. How much politics are involved in the voting?
A. From the votes I get, I would say very little. Most voters are honest with their ballots. I'm sure there is some politicking going on here and there but nothing that is overly blatant.

Q. My team is very good but we are not even noticed. The same teams always seem to be on top. How do we get noticed?
A. If your team is very good, then you will be noticed before long. However, your team must play a decent schedule with some visibility and signature wins. Early season polls reflect history and "street cred" built up from their past history. Once the season swings into full force, if you are truly the cream, you will rise to the top.

Q. What are these polls for? What do they mean? Why should I care?
A. THESE POLLS ARE STRICTLY FOR FUN and a way to raise awareness of the teams around the state. They are conversation starters plain and simple. There are no awards and no big crystal softball trophy at the end of the season. Even if your team is not in the poll but knocks off a top 10 team, I guarantee your team will get some pub.

Q. Can we see who votes and how?
A. No. In order to maintain an honest poll, all votes are private. I will not discuss who voted for who with anyone!!​

I made it up there Sunday to watch and you are right Storm had the bats and the D from what I seen, Ice looked very good as well! When are the scrimmages in April, and are votes based on scrimmages as well?

I would think tournament play is what would count since scrimmages are usually set up to work on different things?

i know from what I seen the 10u division is going to be tough!

I am starting to get some votes from coaches already. Feel free to wait until after next weekend to submit your teams vote. If you want to submit now, that is fine as well.

As far as what counts ex. Tournaments,friendlies etc... Its your teams vote as to who you feel are the best 10 teams in the state. I would think Tournament results would be a big part of your decision making however, ther is no wrong vote. We as voters can only make decisions based on what we have seen, heard or read about.

Lasers are playing all the big tourneys and all 4 of the ASA/USA qualifiers at 10u, so we will get to play the top 10u teams often this year. All the teams listed in this thread are very talented teams and we look forward to some great games with them..

I agree with wboggs54. Mason Thunder will be in same tournaments/weekends with Ohio Storm 8 times this season! That is an exhausting (for a coach), but FUN (for the girls) thought. They are obviously the team to beat in Ohio; and 8 weekends is plenty enough I think!! And we will see the Lasers and Ohio Ice Red many times this year - they both have great teams obviously! You can't decide the best team(s) in March, April, or May. There are a LOT of teams in Ohio with very good coaching, and talented girls that will have great summers! It will be a very competitive spring and summer once we get outside and play some ball. Where is SPRING?!?!

Sorry if my post stepped on any toes ( not my intention). Just not big fan of polls. Head to head is best way and not just one time against each other. Thats why i thought a friendly would be good idea. Best of luck to all the teams this year.

If that is the way you feel........then how does a FRIENDLY determine anything???????
According to your thoughts Dayton Metro, GAPPS, Lasers, Etc. that all these teams will be at will determine........Sounds like you were stepping on your own toes....

Just because they play in the same tournaments doesn't guatrentee the teams will play each other.

The best teams will be playing on Sunday afternoons.......If they want to be considered at the top - they will meet then.........

It's a shame that people get so offended by these posts! Especially at 10u! It's all in good fun! In the end the top teams usually end up playing each other, and it works itself out... RELAX PARENTS!!

I couldn't agree more. I too find these types of threads helpful to see which teams are considered to be at the top. In browsing I came across the 12u preseason poll and noticed a majority of that discussion was slamming the guy who started the thread...Hopefully this thread will stay positive!
