An act of kindness. The outcome of the game was not going to change so why not let the girl finish her at-bat??? The other coach had sour grapes.

Ok, but now what if that girl gets hurt because there was an unnecessary play? I opted not to start a new inning with 2 minutes left (Drop dead revert back) because of that reason. The outcome would not change so why take the risk?

I see your point. A lot of other variables could be brought into play, heat, how many games already played, etc.

Well, he's damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't.

In this case, it was the first game for our team, temp was a comfortable 74, and ultimately would have been my own fault/responsibility had an injury occured. I knew time had run out, but wasn't going to force the issue of time if the umpire was going to let it go. Also, it was timed/finish the inning, not drop dead/revert.
