We remind the teams why not PLAY for less, and PLAY on Sunday. We use the tarps all weekend long (Friday through Sunday). We check the local radar and typically know within 10 minutes of the time it is going to rain so we maximize playing time and minimize your down time. Tarps only take about 10 minutes to put on and the entire Valley Extreme organization puts them on and off.
Remember 2010, the sun was out at noon, and the Valley Extreme tournament was the only one playing in the afternoon sunshine.....that's a FACT!

I will be e-mailing a list next week to over 70 colleges from Ohio & Western PA to once again come and scout the talented girls that play at the Valley Extreme tournament. This list includes Div. I, II, III, and NAIA. Send me an IM if you have a special request or to confirm that I have included the college of your choice.
I will be emailing these colleges our game schedules which will include the teams, times, and field assignment.

We have tarps for 4 of the 9 fields we use. All four fields at Candlelite Knolls have tarps and we typically try to play as many bracket and championship play there on Sunday. We are working with the local recreational organization group in the area about putting tarps on two additional fields. So if it is not down pouring or thundering and lighting,..you'll at least be playing at Candlelite Knolls.
Back in 2008 we had to cancel our May NSA tournament due to our fields not being playable. As a Tournament Director and a Travel Ball Team Manager we felt it was in the best interest as an organization to invest in tarps. Since we have had the tarps rain is no longer our enemy..still not our friend, but we have countless successes in the rain, like the 2008 12U & 16U PONY Nationals, numerous tournaments, and our annual Fall Ball program.
We cannot stop the rain, thunder, and/or lighting, but we can keep our dirt infields dry so when these items stop we can pull the tarps and resume play.

The Valley Extreme tournament in 2010 was played through the RAIN with our tarps, while other higher priced tournaments in the area CANCELLED their bracket and championship play on Sunday!!!!!
