Walsh Jesuit hosting softball skills and pitching camps - September 16

The Walsh Jesuit High School softball program will be conducting its fall softball skills and pitching camps on September 16 at the Walsh Jesuit High School softball field.

The softball skills camp will run from noon to 3 p.m. and will cover a broad range of fielding, hitting, and base running techniques/concepts.

There will also be a separate pitching camp on September 16 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. We will focus on improving basic pitching mechanics, change-up grips/releases, and individualized instruction to improve each pitcher’s particular movement pitches.

The cost for the softball skills camp is $25, while the cost for the pitching camp is $15. If you would like to attend BOTH camps, the total cost to attend will be $30.

Both camps will be run by new head coach Tony Scibelli and some players from the Walsh Jesuit program. These camps are intended for players ages 10-14.

More info about the softball skills camp
Players will be separated into groups by age/skill level. We will be covering all positions except catcher at the softball skills camp; we are planning to have a separate catcher’s only camp in October (details coming soon). Players should bring their glove, bat, cleats and helmets as well as a snack for the lunch break period.

More info about the pitchers camp
Pitchers should bring catchers with them to the pitching camp (parent or catcher from their team). If it is a youth catcher, that catcher can attend the pitching session free of charge.

An update on this event:

The softball skills and pitching camps scheduled for September 16 have been postponed to a later date TBD. Two reasons for the postponement:

1. Construction of a new backstop and all new fencing around the field (exciting stuff!) is scheduled to start earlier than originally planned.
   
2. Many players/parents contacted us saying they would like to attend but they have practice or games for their travel teams.

With these in mind, we thought it would be best for everyone to schedule both events for either later in the fall or early in the winter. We will have updates as soon as possible.
