A couple of clarifications on the rules ...

1) As noted in the original post, you can "reselect" 2 teams from the regionals and one team from the super-regionals ... that means while you don't get any points for them in that round, that you can for subsequent rounds. So let's say you picked UCF in that regional, but FSU actually won, and you had UCF advancing out of the super-regionals, you could replace UCF with FSU, for winning the super regional, or you could even replace UCF with Tennessee assuming they came out of the opposing regional. And what it also means is that after the super-regionals, you could replace either your winner or runner-up. I didn't think this all the way through when I made that rule originally, but realized I needed to clarify it now. Any reselects must be done before that next round starts and it will need to be posted here in the Forum.

2) As to how the tiebreaker will work exactly ... we will add the absolute value differences of each of the scores. So let's say, you picked the score to be 5-3 and the actual score was 6-1. You missed the winner's score by 1, and the loser's score by 2, so the total difference is 3. Whoever has the lowest total difference wins the tiebreaker.

Clear as mud? :)

So ... according to my records, below are the standings of the bracket contest as we head to the super-regionals. The scores are high since the top 14 seeds won, though a few of them barely!

Jeff - 15
Ricky, Volunteers, OkieDad, Oiler Pride, SoCal Dad, Jim Hamrick - 14
Coach Joe, Irish, Mog Softball, c11 los, Edge Marchiny, Steve - 13
Bink44 - 12

Since I'm in the lead so far, someone might want to double check it! :) It is possible I may have scored someone wrong, so please let me know if you see any issues with your score ASAP.

So now, everyone (including Coach Joe) has a chance to re-select, up to 2 of the super-regional winners. It doesn't have to be a team that you selected wrong in the first round ... it may be based on what you saw from the teams this last weekend. Or it could be just your attempt to beat Coach Joe and/or finish in the Top 2. You must do that before the first super-regional game is played sometime on Thursday (time still to be announced), and you must post it here. I will tell you up front that I am not going to re-select any of mine (Fla, Tenn, LSU, Auburn, UM, Bama, UCLA, Oregon).

Good luck to all!

Jeff

Okie ... not sure I understand ... you can't change what happened in the regionals, but you change out up to 2 of your super regional winners. All 8 of your teams are still alive, but it sounds like you're saying you want to pick LSU over Arizona now, right? Is that the only change? Feel free to e-mail me or give me a call if you need to clarify.

P.S. Talked with Okie morning of 5/19 and he made just the one change ... now taking LSU over Arizona in the supers

Just talked to Lee (Bink44) and he replaced Texas with UCLA. Still haven't heard from 7 of you yet with any re-selects, and I know 2 of you (edge and steve) do have teams winning supers that have already been eliminated.

Looks like the Runyon moved up the box as Mclenny suggested and took Okla freshman yard for the win.Other than that pitch id have to commend her for a 250+ pitch day in the loss,as well as Chamberlain for an incredible 2 HR game for her for Oklahoma. That puts me out of the Bracket since I picked Okla to win it all.Love my Sooners .Guess its GO Blue for the next round.

Actually you're not out of it ... remember you get one re-select this round ... if you pick one of the remaining "underdogs", you could still win. Let's see how the rest of today pans out and I'll give everyone an update tomorrow.
