So here's an update after the super-regionals ... hard to believe the top 8 seeds all have advanced. Keep in mind that everyone still has one re-select remaining for either the winner or the runner up ... by my calculations, everyone still has a chance to finish in the top 2, as long as some of you utilize your re-selects, and perhaps with a little bit of luck! Picking the winner is worth 4 points, and the runner-up is 3 points.

Coachjwb (me) - 31 (Fla over Ore)
Admin (Ricky) - 30 (Ore over Fla)
Volunteer -30 (Tenn over UM)
c11los - 29 (UM over Ore)
OkieDad - 28 (Okla over Fla)
OilerPride - 28 (UM over Ore)
SoCal Dad - 28 (UM over Fla)
Coach Joe - 27 (Fla over UM) (note: must beat Coach Joe to win the whole thing)
Irish - 27 (Ore over Fla)
MogSoftball - 27 (Ore over Fla)
Edge marchiny- 27 (UM over Fla)
JimHamrick - 26 (Ore over UM)
Bink44 - 24 (UM over Ore)
Steve - 23 (UM over Ore)

And I will tell you up front that I am sticking with my 2 picks. The first game of the WCWS is at noon on Thursday, so you must submit any re-selects (again, only 1 team) by that time here in the Forum. Let me know any questions, and good luck!

I'm not sure this is 100% correct, or if I've covered all of the possibilities, but this is who I think will come in first place in the pool depending on the various scenarios ...

* If Florida wins the whole thing, coachjwb (me) wins
* If LSU and Auburn both advance, coachjwb wins
* If LSU or Auburn wins the whole thing, and Florida comes in 2nd, Ricky wins
* If LSU or Auburn wins the whole thing and UM comes in 2nd, Volunteers wins
* If UM wins over Florida in the finals, OkieDad and SoCal Dad are in a tiebreaker
* If UM wins over Auburn in the finals, c11los wins

While Coach Joe could get the finals completely correct still, he can not win ... so there will be a winner

Again, I think this is right but not positive! Just wanted to give anyone online today and watching the games an idea of who they should be rooting for if they want to win this pool. It will be much simpler and I will give an update after today's games. Go Gators!

I've had a chance to watch a lot of the WCWS the last several days, and have been so impressed with the defenses ... yes they've made a few mistakes, but have seen a ton of diving catches, double plays turned, outfield assists and great tags at home. I know the announcers/commentary have been criticized a lot in the past, but for the most part I have been very impressed with it as well. I've just really enjoyed seeing our game being played at such a high level, and all of the coverage is fantastic!

So now that Florida and Michigan have advanced to the championship, here are the two scenarios ...

If Florida wins ... I come in first with 35 points, and Coach Joe comes in 2nd with 34 points
If Michigan wins ... OkieDad and SoCal_Dad tie with 35 points ... first and second will come down to a tiebreaker in the last game ... Okie has 4-2 and SoCal has 8-7

If anyone disputes this, please speak up ASAP!

Final pool results ...

1) 35 points - me :)
2) 34 points - Coach Joe
3) 33 points - Volunteers
4) 30 points - Ricky

Joe was the only person to correctly pick the winner and runner-up, while I was the only other person who picked Florida to win. I missed just 2 of the 26 picks ... James Madison in the regionals, and Oregon as the runner-up. Ricky redeemed himself from last year's pool, and "escapes" any payouts. Joe can't be paid due to his status as a college coach, and I'm "donating" my winnings back to the Forum and the Radio Show for all that Ricky and they do for me! Thanks to everyone for playing.

Wow, Jeff and Joe great job!
You guys are great a pickin favorites.lol Dominance by a team is not good for the sport. The commentators were giving Fla the win in the bottom of the 3rd.Michigan had a good run but alot of players looking tentative at the plate in this game.didn't even get a mention from being 5 runs out of tieing w SoCal.Oh well just have to settle for top 10 again out of 11 or so again.

Some people call it picking favorites, some people call it picking winners ;)

This was definitely a year where the top ranked teams ruled. #1-#14 seeds all win regionals, #1-#8 won all of the super-regionals, and #1 beat #3 in the championship game. There definitely were more "upsets" last year.

There's a reason most favorite's become winners especially in this tournament, when you play at home through out the early rounds it definatley helps.Considering they use Rpi for rankings SEC ,teams fare better than Big 10 ,BIG 12 teams.Okla had an better record than Bama ,but had to play 3 there in the Supers.I'm the type that allways enjoys the little team overcoming the odds to beat the big team,a bit more fun than There gonna win another one .Life is about overcoming obstacles ,like to see it on the field.Good job Jeff and JoeA

Our sport just hasn't progressed enough to where there are enough teams that are competitive to avoid all of the favorites winning. I'd love to see it to where in any given year you might have Ohio State, Boston College, Boise State and others like that all be in the College World Series.

Time to kick off the 2016 Prefect Bracket Contest. Jeff Baker will be posting the rules and prizes your WCWS contest on a new thread.
