You know...As far as I can tell, we've beaten the Dragons 99, Ohio Hawks-Davis, Ohio Danger 2 x's, Championship Fastpitch-Blue and just recently the Ohio Glory. This is my second year in travel softball and not sure where all the "Big Girls" as you call them, play. I scheduled 10 tournaments and our 4 remaining will be a much tougher than the previous. You know as well as I do, that if you don't speak up, nobody will for you. These girls have played their butts off and deserve some credit. Regardless of how they finish in the polls, at this point they should be considered. Thanks for your concern and modesty.

Fastball 40,

GREAT bunch of girls, good coaches, and very nice parents!!!! We had a great time this weekend. Keep your girls playing hard and the love will come in the polls.

Just ask Grand Slam what to do. They came to a bigger tournament. Won the credit of some voters. The 12u has a lot of depth. Some of the top ten teams can and will be beaten by some of the teams in the others (vote) and a few not getting any votes. The season is just getting started.

my guess is not a single person would have had a problem with what "40" had to say if he had not said something like ' wherever the so called Big Girls play at' .

Well in fairness Dan, "40" was responding to the immediately preceding post that said, literally and fairly degradingly, "you aren't playing with the big girls."

Love OFC Polls... we were in the same boat at 10u 2 years ago.. won 8 straight 'local' SWO toureny's .. never really made it high in the poll.. then went to GAPPS and finished 4th - losing to Pitts RR's, Lasers etc but we made the impression we needed to make and landed mid-poll.

I can say from experience that 'winning' local tourney's is not nearly the same as playing in Lasers, GAPPS, Stingray's and the Dayton Metro ... you have to play and be somewhat successful (finish top 4 or so) in them to really deserve rank in the Top 6 or so .. this is just my observation there is a real divide in the depth and overall strength of teams among the top 5 or 6 and the rest. Not that the ones below can't get a win against a team rated in the top half, but they don't have the overall strength to play thru a bracket comprised of top 12u teams to get to late Sunday championship games... their weaknesses eventually get exposed while the better teams push through to the end ...

Doug,

Very well put!!! The only thing that is certain is if the girls keep winning, people will notice.

The polls are only as accurate as the people voting. I only vote for the teams I know and have played. I am not voting based on what I have read on OFC. The order of where you land in my top ten may vary as I see how you have done against the rest of the group. I am not voting for Buckeye Elite because I have never seen them play, I also don't vote for the Classics because I have never seen them play. Are both of those teams top 10 or top 5 teams, probably, but I can't put them in mine until I see it.

I am guessing that there are more votes coming from Columbus and south then there are from north of Columbus. So teams like Cyclones, VE Warren, Thunder Elite Green, Grand Slam, and a few others that I am sure that I am forgetting, are not getting as recognized. Until Grand Slam goes south and then they get votes. All the teams I mentioned play late on most sundays and are capable of beating any of the teams in the top ten at any time.

It is nice to get some recognition and see who else is playing well and what other teams think of you but if getting votes in these polls is high on your list of goals than you are in this for the wrong reason. Our goals are more related to the continuos improvement of our girls as softball players, teammates, and most importantly respectful young ladies.

I do however support everyone tooting their own horn a little bit. After you play go to the results section of the forum and let everyone know how you did.

I appreciate the recent dialogue and explanations much more than the, "play with the big girls, or take off the training wheels" comments. No need to be confrontational. Buckeye Elite will be at Bat Wars and at The Laser tournaments Hopefully we fare well. I will be the first to admit that I am curious to see how we stack up. We are not flashy or eye popping. We do a few things well, and play hard. So far, that has worked out for us. Hopefully we bring our big girl panties to these tournaments, and show that we belong on a bigger stage.

We held our own at Bat Wars going 5-1 on the field. Our only loss came to the eventual winner of the tournament, Indiana Xtreme. We made some early mistakes, and they took advantage of it, and put it to us. In the championship game they were up 14-2 against The Stingrays last I heard. A schedule oversight resulted in a forfeit against the 11U Ice team when we didn't show up. Teams played were, Beaver Creek Burst 6-0, MC Hammers 9-2, Ohio Lady Liberty 11-1, Explosive Fastpitch White 9-0, and Springfield Bandits 6-5. No top teams there, but we will take the experience. We got a little taste of what an elite teams looks like in the Inidana team. We have some work to do to match up against those teams. It was a fun weekend of softball. See you at Laser Nation.

The Indiana Extreme 98 team put the W-O-O-D to us in the championship game - Great group of girls and coaches that can really thump it - Right there with all of our top teams....ALL OF THEM...

Now for the BUT... I am not one to make excuses for our girls - Those of you that know me will vouch... a loss is a loss....period...But in this case it was a little extreme (parden the punn) - We had just played 4 games, 3 of which were back to back to back in 3 different corners of berliner (with 15 minutes between games) - We didn't know we were in the championship until 10 minutes before 1st pitch and the Extreme team was well rested. This team still probably beats us in an 8 am game on Saturday morning, but they would not have beat us this way - The girls did all they could to try to battle, but we just didn't have anything left....

Either way, doesn't matter where we land on this poll - It's a lot of fun to watch, but most of us know that the pack has come together a bit with the 98's - There are quite a few VERY good teams...a couple of what I call "show up" teams (one of which may be us) - That is if they show up, they are strong...and then some others... Looking forward to seeing everyone soon - Good luck to all at Lasers!!!

No doubt they are a good team, but I have to agree with you, I don't see them being that much better than you. We came out flat against them too, and as you know a good team will take advantage of your mistakes. We gave them 7 outs in the 2nd inning, and they put up a big crooked number against us. It was far too much to overcome in an hour drop dead format. It would have helped matters if we could have pushed a run across the plate at some point.
