What are people paying

I figured it was only a matter of time before people started 8u travel teams. Hell on another site I saw a 6u team was looking for players.
My question is what are people paying to play on these teams? And what are the kids getting for your money?
I know what it’s cost’s to have your daughter on a showcase team at 14u and up.

Hell, There has been an increase of 10U teams calling themselves showcase teams. There are plenty of money grabbing tournaments out there that advertise the event as a showcase with 10U divisions as well...

When my daughter played 8u Travel (Years ago) I paid somewhere along the line of $650 plus fund raising. She got a lot for that $650 in my opinion. Helmet, bat bag, 2 full-dye uniforms, played in roughly 10 tournaments, and they got head bands and some other stuff. Now that was 8-9yrs ago. Tournaments cost a lot more nowadays. Back then you could get into an 8u tourney for $150-$250. Like everything else cost has went up.

Cards you are correct! Showcase at 10u???!!! SMH... NO College coaches are interested in scouting a 10u player right now. This is a status thing for some of the parents out there.

Roadwarriors 8U last year charged $500, provided bat bags and helmets (not great quality of either), 2 full uniforms, and played in 10 tournaments and the coach ended up paying out of pocket for one of those tournaments. We did a fish fry fundraiser and some raffle baskets to help.

This year we had to raise our fees to $650 but decided we were going more quality bat bags and helmets and fielding masks. We have been fortunate with sponsors so far this year and have been more prepared for some popular fund raising ideas (cash raffles are huge) and are looking to do the same type of schedule (10 total tournaments) this year as well.

Part of our fees (as you would expect for travel ball) pay for indoor practice facility and since we are doing fall tournaments this year we did get nice fall ball jerseys.

OP, that would be on the high end though..

IMO I would estimate:
10U would be $500-$800
12U would be $700-$1000
14U would be $1000-$1500
16/18 not sure on average there

Not gonna lie, I was pissed when my boy, my last going through, played travel ball for $800 and only get 40 or so games... that’s highway robbery!!! For $800 I could easily have a team play 75 softball games

The cost will vary greatly between age, team goals and division of play.

Also the TOTAL cost of travel ball goes outside of just the team fees.
Some organizations / teams require private instruction.
Some have extensive travel resulting in transportation cost and overnight expenses.
Parent lead teams vs. non parent lead teams also plays a factor in team cost since non parent teams absorb the cost of coaching including travel expenses.
Equipment player bats/gloves/cleats/batting gloves safety equipment could be vell over $300 per year.

8=10U: I would say the average is under $500team fee for a decent schedule that includes some spring/fall league play
12 U: Under $800 team fee
14 and above: Will vary greatly depending on what the teams goals are. Low end $800 high end $2500 team fee

If you go up to the super elite national teams 14/16/18 over $2500 but most have monthly payment policies.

At the younger ages we did fundraisers to help offset expenses. 14U and up we had sponsors and it was up to each parent if they wanted to do any fundraisers.
All our teams had bat bags, 2 summer uniforms, 1 fall uniform, batting helmets, batting gloves, water bottle, Miken Bat and discounts on ringor cleats. The most expensive season was $1300 at 16U when we played a national schedule with a lot of travel to more costly tournaments.
Tournament fees now for some of the bigger showcase events are well over the $700 to $1200 we were paying back then.

I have been the treasure for our team for the last 3 years (12u twice and 14u this year)

You have team insurance, certification costs, equipment costs (go price a dozen good balls! good lord), indoor rental fees for winter practice, ump fees for the friendlies, trading pins, bags, helmets, wrist bands, custom logos, 3 complete uniforms.... plus the 10-15 tournaments costs (Which have done nothing but increase over the past 2 years). It adds up very quick. Plus, being a non-profit, if we had some extra from fundraising it went back into the girls with warmups, visors, parties, etc....

That said, we were $1,000 + Fundraising 12u(1st), $1,200 + Fundraising 12u(2nd), $1,300 + Fundraising 14u(1st). Included everything above. All three years they received instruction twice a week (Fall, Spring, Summer), indoor winter workouts, and roughly 80-120 games in a year. This year we added speed and agility training in the winter for them.

As a parent, pitching or catching lessons if you have one of those ($40-$80 a week), hitting lessons for all the girls ($40-80 a week), bats (omg the bats $300-$500 a season or if they have 3 $900-$1500 a season), Cleats (OMG its like their feet never stop growing $200, because you need metal and turf), Gas, Hotels, Dinners, Snacks, Gate Fees, Team Gear.....

We played 2 fall tournaments plus 2 RR friendlies and have 9 Spring/summer tournaments. We have parents discussing what other teams charge and I myself wonder if its too much considering what all you get with a different organization.

Yes and we just got word of next years fees and they are going up. They stress that we have our own indoor facility with 1, 2hr practice a week and unlimited use of the cages or fields anytime. We live within a few miles of it so we utilize it multiple times a week. Though its getting harder to justify it to myself let alone players that live an hour away.
