Folks saying play when it's 18 is just simple minded. I compare it to riding a motorcycle. I'm not one of those guys who says I will ride in freezing weather to show how tough I am, I bought it to ride comfortably and enjoy... Much like we all want to enjoy softball. I don't enjoy standing out there when it's 30 degrees and not moving much. I'd rather not play at all. So sorry if that doesn't sound "tough" but I'd rather be smart than tough :)

Soccer runs constantly, softball has a lot of standing around comparatively.

From the simple minded folks we say just don't play then and we'll never accuse you of proving how tough you are. LOL

The coldest MLB playoff game was 35 degrees in Cleveland in 1997. As far as I can tell, if the temperature is not at least 35 or so, MLB will typically postpone a game.

It was cold Saturday but the CARDS had a home varsity softball and baseball contest scheduled. Softball did not play baseball did...

A couple years back we played in a fall showcase in Chattanooga Tenn. 8:30PM game it was COLD mid 30s by the end of the game.
We got through it I think a little better than the team from Georgia we were playing. It ended up being a good game for the coaches/fans in attendance.
Now the game after ours I think everyone left the park other than the two teams that had to play and they packed it in after a couple innings.

For high school below 40. We were in a tourney last weekend in Cincinnati area and had a game on Friday night played at 32 degrees the game after ours was 25 degrees. Almost all the batters looked bad trying swing under 5 layers of clothes and the pitchers looked bad trying to keep their hands warm enough. For high school level it only hurt the kids. Now the next morning we had a 10:30 A.M. game with a temp. of 28 and as the sun came out and the frozen field melted we were in 3 inch mud by the 2nd inning. They delayed the games and 75% of the teams went home. Fun weekend.
