it is almost 12:00 noon I will be meeting with Jim Wharton shortly. We will come up with a schedule that we can fit around the rain. All games today are a wash. We will start Saturday morning at 8:00 am. The 3:30 games on friday will start at 8:00. I will have the schedule on the rain line as soon as we agree. I will also put it on here as soon as i can.

My DD is currently in mourning, she wanted to play today. It's almost like watching a caffeine addict withdrawing. LOL. She has informed us that we WOULD be playing tomorrow. Let's hope the weather cooperates. ;D

It is now almost 3:00 all games today are finished due to rain. We will start tomorrow at 12:00 with a modified schedule. The format will be a 2 game guarantee with refund given on games not played. 1 pool game with winners in upper bracket and losers in lower bracket. if you lose second game you will recieve a half refund. If you lose your third game a 1/4 refund will be given. In order to win the jacket money you must be in the upper bracket. Due to the amount of rain in the last 3 days this is what we came up with. Lets hope for a better day tomorrow. I will be back to list entire schedule shortly. I have to get it to Mr. Wharton

I am probably reading things wrong, but in the 12U bracket, you will have 6 winners and 6 in the loser bracket (12 teams total). This gives you three winner's games, and three winners, who then play for the championship...

So, maybe there is an intermediate step in here that I missed.

All the other age groups worked out nicely with brackets that were evenly divisible by 4, so the brackets came out even.

Yes , that is correct , also you have no chance of placing ! So really if you loose you first pool game , the rest of the games are just Scrimmages ?

yes if you lose your first pool game, the best you can get is third. But also, if you get into the winners bracket and lose then you are done. Meaning that you could go farther in the tournament than a team that won their first game!!! All seems a little crazy to me. Wish that RAIN would have stopped long enough for us to play the entire tournament!!!

KC Elite, Ohio Classics, Buckeye Heat (Howe), Pickerington Tigers, Stingrays 11U, and Ohio Thunder (I think) are the winner bracket teams in the Whitehall 12U tournament for tomorrow.

The Ohio Classics will face the winner of the Buckeye Heat - Pickerington Tigers game. KC Elite will wait to play the winner of the Stingrays - Ohio Thunder match.

Here's one I never heard of ,How does Tournament Director change not only the brackets but also the format of way teams are awarded trophies after the 1st and some 2nd round games are done ? Here's what happened .After first round games and Before 1st games were started were told by Tournament Director that if you lose first game you would go to Loser's bracket and best you could do is finish your remaining games with no chance for any trophiesbut you would get some money back. We win our first game make it to semi-finals lose to eventual Winner of the tournament and then find out that Saturday night the Tournament Director changes the format and decide to reward all the losers bracket teams with a chance at 3rd or 4th place trophies. We lose in semi-finals and are done only to watch the team that we beat and other semi-finalist run-ruled play each other for 3rd and 4th place trophies, while we get nothing ??!! I asked the Tournament Director why he not only changed the Format after 1st round games , but decided to reward teams for losing and Penalized teams for winning ?? And his response was " I thought this was the only way to get the losers Bracket teams to come back , so we wouldnt have to pay so much money out for games not played " NICE !!!!!!

Buckeye Heat (Howe) won the 12U division at Whitehall with a 9-1 win over KC Elite in the final game.

KC Elite had advanced with a 6-3 win over Stingrays, who beat Ohio Thunder in the morning game.

Buckeye Heat defeated the Pickerington Tigers in the morning game and edged the Ohio Classics 2-1 in a full seven-inning game to advance.

Great softball by all the teams in Whitehall this weekend.

Don't know who the winner was, but I know it was a slugfest. We were playing in the 12u championship game on the adjacent field and had our game interupted more than once by home runs, including one grand slam.

I think that their could have been something else done for the two teams that where tied for third place in the winners bracket. you lost your semi-finial game and get nothing? I am speeking for the 16u Ohio Dragons and Ohio Danger who got nothing for being tied for third. There had to be a better solution.
