Ok billy. Tell me why you are looking for more players? If you have more than 9 someone is going to sit. Right? Why were u looking for more players when you had 12? Why are the people that are agreeing with you all have to do with your organization? Just stop...

The "playing time" debate is an age old debate. Unfortunately, travel softball has now all but degraded to a business transaction: I pay X dollars for my daughter to play X position and bat # X in the lineup... As opposed to paying X dollars to get great instruction, play great competition and an opportunity to earn your position. Then, when the girls have to actually compete for their spots in college they are like a deer in headlights, having never had to compete for a spot in their entire lives. Not only does the playing time debate not prepare them for the next level of softball, more importantly, it doesnt prepare them for the labor market or life.

Side note: BILLY, I noticed you are using the Chicago Bandits logo on your uniforms. I am sure you got permission to use that... Right?

Certainly, sitting on the bench doesn't help a player get better, but each girl's situation is different. Each family must do what they feel is best for their player. When our dd first decided to play travel ball, 5 years ago she didn't get an invite from any team she tried out for the first summer. It wasn't until a coach for the Lake Erie Waves saw her play in a fall league, called and asked her to be the 12th player on a 12-girl 12U team that she got the chance. He liked that she could bunt and displayed "court awareness" in the field. That first year she rode the bench and tried to get better. She took pitching and batting lessons and the next year won a spot on a 14u team as a pitcher. Every year since then, she's been the one of the top 3 players on every team she's been on, and that includes coming back from 3 serious injuries. There have been teams she would have loved to have played for, but they went by stopwatches and speed guns and missed out on darn fine ballplayer who loves the game and refuses to quit.

Well I can say you're very passionate about this topic Billy. You're post are very animated. As many have said it's an individual case by case situation and depends on the individual family and what they want out of it as it should be. I'm curious, why does it bother you so much??

Self explained gentlemen. It's 12u ball! Talented players are sitting more than they should be. There are a lot of good teams out here ( mine included ) that just need a peace or 2 to become a great team. Teams that can go from a weaker schedule to a tougher schedule. Kids that deserve to play every inning of every game so they can get the experience they need. .. Very passionate about the game that my dd dreams about! Remember.. We are the adults.. Kids make this possible, no kids, no game, no discussion.. If you can't be passionate about your dd and her dreams, consider your roll as a parent.

Just to be clear.....I did not agree with anyone in particular, just my opinion on the subject from personal experience as coach and dad, lol.

Maybe you need to sign a code of conduct. You have 9 now because 3 have left. Are you not on her posting to find more? Well that would mean others would sit. Tom did not agree with u. No one in there right mind would. Take ur own advise and stop! There is a difference between never playing and sitting out a few innings here or there... Ur acting like kids never play!!!!!

If you believe in every kid playing every inning of every game, then your 9 players are enough. No more needed. Also, coaches and their reputations often dictate whether they get those key players or not.

Ladies. This is peaceful again. You seem to be as passionate as I am about this topic. I thank you for your comments. We understand you love your kids as much as we do. Enjoy your evening. Thank you again for your comments.

I think there is a point being missed here. No kid should sit all the time and I have yet to see a team that sits a player all the time, barring injury. However, a good player would rather play a little less on a winning team with a truly competitive schedule, than play all the time on a team that loses all the time playing a weak schedule. This comes directly from my daughter. I am not saying she is a stud, but she would much rather be on that winning team.

Still curious if Billy has permission to use the Chicago Bandits logo. I mean I am sure the Bandits name, Chicago Bandits and Beverly Bandits color scheme, the Beverly Bandits naming convention (I.e. Bandits Team 3N2 compared to Bandits Team Demarini) are just odd coincidences. But the logo is pretty hard to accidentally come up with on your own...

Passion! I love it! Some teams need 1 or 2 to become a winning team.. To play a more competitive schedule! That's all we need! However, that would give me 11.. But I know all 11 will play in every game on SUNDAY! Unless you are worried about kids leaving your team over this post then there's something to be worried about. If not, no need to be hostel. As for my rep.. For those who knew me before, and the wrong stuff I've done in life had been forgiven as I have rededicated my life to God and trying to walk a better path and so my daughter learns from my wrongs so she doesn't make the same mistakes. I'm not perfect but who is even as a coach. If you are perfect, please cast the 1st stone. I will gladly take it.

My girls love the Chicago Bandits! I will call Bill tomorrow for you Tony!

I am sure Bill and the owners of the Chicago Bandits are happy that your girls love the Chicago Bandits.

I love Dr Pepper, but that doesn't mean I can start my own soda company and produce my own soda called Dr Pepper in cans with the real Dr Pepper logo with a wildly similar can designs to the real thing... Well at least not ethically.

I have 9 Browns Fan! ( Manziel MVP! ) I'm looking for a couple more. I've got a couple calls.. I will have 11 or 12 by the time the spring league starts!

Tony, these are 12u girls.. The Chicago Bandits will see our girls in their uniforms this summer at the stadium. This isn't like a soda company.. But decent comparison.. I'm sure we aren't the only team that want to be like their favorite players. I wish you a good season Tony. God bless!

The reason none of the great players want to drop the good teams they are committed to and move to your team is because you haven't proven yourself as a great coach who knows and can teach the game. Your reputation and most of the things you've said in the past argues all the great things you claim about yourself and your coaching abilities. Instead of getting on here and insulting everyone who doesn't agree with the ridiculous things you say, you should try listening and learning from those who know.
Those girls on the good teams got there from starting early, working hard, weekly hitting/pitching/fielding lessons and putting in hundreds of practice hours with good coaching and instruction. Why in the world would they take a step back and quit their own successful team that they worked hard to make just to join your mediocre team because you can't keep your players?!? Good coaches MAKE good players. If you're as good as you tell everyone, then go out and develop some great players instead of expecting them to leave the teams and coaches who made them great so they can help you and your players get better. There is a natural weeding out process that happens in this sport.......you can only screw so many people over before no-one wants to play for you anymore and you can't field a team.
