The whole thing is cr@p!!! What part of "it's not a makeup, it's the opener" don't you people get. There is absolutely NO excuse for this!!!!

Sorry about sugar coating my opinion!

All comes down to how valuable she is to the team. If she was the stud pitcher that is carrying the team and the coach wouldn't dare do anything to hack her or her family off than let him know how hacked you are. But if he is controlling your daughter's playing time and you don't want to negatively influence that I'd bite the bullet and "hack" in his coffee when he wasn't looking.

I ask my partner to relieve me 2 hours early to be able to make it and he said " i'll call you back" no call ever came.

I think it is completely valid to be upset. My daughter is a freshman starting varsity this year too and if I had to miss her very first game, I would be very upset.

At least you've got a coach and AD willing to do what it takes to get games. It's taken my kids' HS two years to play 27 games. They'll start with an 18 or 19 game schedule and don't make up any rained out non-league games. When the coach asked for the field to be re-tiled, the schools solution was to throw more dirt on it.

The first games of the high school season are always very dicy and seldom come off as planned. The weather is awful and the crowds are very thin. The players will make significant mistakes sometimes the fewer fans the better. These initial games are little more than scrimmages and tune-ups for the main event. Once the weather improves and you are playing the much more important section games they will mean more and the schedule will settle down.

It is going to be a very long year for you, your dd and her high school coach. I hope you have managed to keep your anger in check and only let it out only on this forum. Blowing up on the Varsity Coach will not be the way to start your 4 years off on a solid foundation. His only response will be directed toward your dd and she will be embarrassed to even know you. Tuck it in and try to go with the flow. You will live to fight another day and your dd might actually get on the field and a few at bats. Life is good.

"get on the field and get a few at bats" --thats some funny stuff fairman. I'm 110 % positive my dd wont continue the streak she's on but thru her 1st 4 varsity scrimmages she has 2 grand slams, a 2 run homer , a triple , and a couple base knocks. The pitching is FAR less than what she is used to seeing as a 13-14u player the past 2 years and she is taking full advantage.

a little history about our school and our past -- one of the smallest schools in Ohio --we graduate 20-25 kids a year, total enrollment of around a 100. School has never won a conference title. Don't know that they have ever won a sectional. This season 3 experienced freshman hit the scene and we are off to a nice start --- you know what the head coach instruct's the girls to say when we break huddle after winning our last 2 road games with the home team setting 30 feet from us in the OF grass ? --remember this is the head coach leading the cheer " YOUR HOME, OUR WIN" there is some embarrassment for ya. life is good , but nothing compared to what is to come. Obvious'y I don't the details of your situation as well as you do. I still recommend that you chill out a little and take it easy. Your dd is doing well and is likely to play in a lot more games over her high school career. You will loose any discussion over schedule with the head coach and it certainly appears that you will have many more opportunities to be upset with this particular coach.

Good Luck.

FYI-figure out the 1st day of games and anticipate games and practices every day?Rely on the weather to determine your schedule?I looked at a calender, figure practice @ 2:45 or game @ 5:15 Monday thru friday and games 11:00 and 1:00 every saturday til June 4th.We do this for travel?

We're scheduled to play thursday and off friday-already prepared for a re-schedule for friday-commom sense. There are no off days-if it happens,so be it.Complain to coach and A.D. and you'll end up with no make-ups,play 15 -20 games with no make-ups and give the A.D. another reason to favor the boy "money maker" sports.

panther FYI -- did you even read the 6 pages of this thread ? you comment failed the moment you typed " figure out the 1st day of games" ---thats the problem , the day of games was not figured out , and as mentioned about a half dozen times the schedule change had ZERO to do with weather. you should read a thread before commenting.

FWIW - i ask my dd what time practice was today --she stated " 3 or 5 ' I ask whats up with that she said it " depended on the weather ". MD

Not trying to cause ripples in the pond.Agree that the schedule changes cause most of us issues when games happen to "pop up" because many of us do have jobs, family, other kids,etc..I was just stating that I went to OHSAA website and saw the season begins March 28 and if I don't have every evening Monday thru Friday and some saturdays planned for games until the 1st weekend of June,it makes our lives a little more difficult to manage the rest of our lives.

I didn't know our schedule either and agree it is trying on our lifes to all of a sudden find out a game is added when I made a previous arrangement then find out we have an added game or re-schedule.

Maybe I missed some threads between 1st and last,I was agreeing with you, it ****s to have games all of a sudden "pop-up".My statement was that it ****s but I figured it would happen.Maybe I miss-worded it but was in agreement with your initial post.

either...or practice times are not that unusual. Our softball & baseball teams do the same thing cause they have to share the same gym. And they alternate times each week. One week the girls have the 3:15 time slot, the next week 5:15.

thanks for the advice Murph , sometimes I do break the golden rule of " never post while steaming mad" I'm not mad now but I'll add this gem ---yesterday he told the 3rd baseman not to worry about throwing to 2nd to get the lead runner " just take the out at 1st , thats where teams get in trouble --tryin ' to get that lead runner" oh well .... as far as summer ball she is just going to sub when she feels like it. we are traveling some and she is doing some REACH church camps. you coaching CF?
