OK.. I somewhat retract my previous comment.. 2 weeks ago I was getting extremely annoyed with the ENITRE coaching staff for one team.. After every pitch it was something. I thought at one point Peyton Manning was out there coaching because I kept hearing OMAHA!! Not even kidding.

After a strike is pitched to the batter, I hear..."now you see it."

Despite what any of you " perfect know it all coaches " say , I will never stop giving my players words that trigger something in their minds that helps them . If I say " now you seen it " its more for them to be reassured by me that they did exactly what I wanted them to do and that is to watch one go by before they swing. If I say " your stepping out " then she probably is and needed a reminder. Despite what some of you think , most players need a small reminder.
Yes the parent who comments after every pitch is a little much but they do mean well , they're not just trying to annoy you!

Lets be honest - We all have done it (I find myself doing it often) but in fact it's a nervous habit because we can no longer go and instruct them.
They should not be thinking about small adjustments and such when they are in the batters box "SEE BALL SWING" is all that needs to be in their head and hopefully they are blocking out all the "You're dippin' you're shoulder" talk if they arn't they are going to struggle.
When they walk back in -(Hopefuly from ruinning the bases and not striking out) then tell them "You're dippin' you're shoulder" or "you're stepping out - watch it next time" Remind them maybe on the walk up to bat- "Watch your feet" or "No High stuff" maybe give them a quick "Be a hitter now kid - You got this" then just let it go...

First, with regards to any hitting cue, the "Hanson Principle" should rule the day. The Hanson Principle requires that you "always compare what you are told to what the best hitters in the world actually do." If you do that, you'll see that rarely, if ever, do people actually swing level or have their shoulders level. The bat plane and the shoulder plane most often are parallel. You can go watch video of some of the best hitters in the world at noontimebaseball.com

The top pic is Albert Pujols and the bottom one is my dd when she was a freshman in HS. The ball is coming off of her bat and this is a homerun to right. I did my best to model her swing after Pujol's swing.

"Don't like it, dump it..."

I'll actually miss that one at some point.

I agree with the above statement on giving advice. Yelling some of this stuff is probably a nervous habit. But, while I giggle at other parents/coaches giving their advice to players, I'm just as guilty! But, considering all the hours of practice and research, what the heck, it's all part of the fun!

Oh How I love this, I am one of those guilty parents. Typically I spend my time Far in the Outfield with a 500mm zoom lens, recently sat by home plate, I caught myself yelling "Shut Er' down" ALOT. I even annoyed myself. lol, however, its all in good fun. Did i also mention that I'm the annoying mom with the large Cow Bell. Yup, thats me. WHY? Because all the girls on the team love it, and it brings up their spirit, My daughter isn't looking to be the Next Jenny Finch, she plays the game because she loves it, and loves spending time with 9 other girls she gets to call her best friends.

That is one of my favorite skits from SNL

Dougk30, you are my new best friend! I showed this skit to my daughter this morning, she cracked up, and although I don't look like that, I'm sure other parents perceive me that way lol. I'm a young mom, it wasn't long ago that I was on the Softball Field myself. If these kids can't have fun....and parents too... whats the point of any of it???
