I have decided to return to Ohio, so I resigned last week and will return late this coming week after wrapping things up here. I just mainly want to be back in Ohio.

Wow...didn't see that one coming!

Any truth to the rumor Joe that you will be pacing the 3rd baseline wearing Scarlet and Gray next year???

Glad this cat is out of the bag. A couple of weeks is about the longest I can keep a fastpitch secret. Looking forward to the return of the Buckeye Heat founder to Ohio!!

Love the job, but too hard being away from family and friends year after year, and then my mom went into the hospital last night, further validating my decision (she should be fine).

Sorry to hear the west coast wasn't working out for you, but their loss is our gain. Welcome back.

(and glad to hear your mom is gonna be alright)

No, I won't be coaching anyone this summer! I may be out watching here and there, but I'm going to take a little time off from coaching, as I've done it non-stop since about 1996or so. Maybe in 2012, but not this year.

Looks like I still have yet one more bout of rain to deal with here, as we host the high school districts again tomorrow and it's rained all yesterday and today. After those are over tomorrow, then I'm free to head back to Ohio later this week. I just couldn't get used to calling Spokane home and figured out I never would.

Joe, I'll be working the College Coaches tent at Stingrays. You are always welcome to stop by and chat and catch-up on Ohio Travelball.

Back from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and heading to Lexington this weekend. Got to love this part of the season.

Just a thought, before sending your daughter there you should have watched this coach before you got there in a game situation. Or talked to the players and asked them their honest opinions, or former players. Would you go on a date with someone without first finding a little bit about them.

Works in theory, but, given the environment and treatment, girls sometimes won't speak up for fear it will earn them the wrath of the coach, and former players are hard to find when they won't come back to the games.

In following up I've learned that 6-8 of the players asked to speak with the AD and all had similar stories. As a result they have been labelled "malcontents", told that they have no talent and that the team would be better off without them. Assume the same label was applied to their former teammate as she took her 2nd Team All-American, 3 first team all conference awards and a couple of all region honors with her. Yep, no talent there...in the coaching staff. ;&

See you in Oklahoma City in a couple of weeks.

So did the AD dismiss the situation or is it still under investigation?

This is hard to believe.....did they really say to a 3 time first team all conference and 2 time all region player that she had no talent and would be better off without her?

@ Len:

I think, based upon ElderStatesman's prior posts, that the young lady you are describing took the bull by the horn and has left the program.

cgs

I did not describe the young lady.....ElderStatesman did. I did nothing more than voice my disbelief that a coach would tell a young lady with those credentials that she had no talent and would be better off without her. The malcontent part....well that is debatable dependent on the person.
