witnessed one this year in 12u. HC and both assistants. all 3 of their DD's batting 1-2-3 in order. Lead team in lowest batting averages. never moved from 1-2-3 all season.
Just got off a team like this. In addition to batting, the daddy girls were the ONLY infielders and made continuous egregious errors that never got corrected. They treated the whole club thing like a rec party and had been playing since last summer. We lost ALL but two games and by a sizable margin including many mercys. My daughter was recruited by HC for her aggressive and consistent playing but before long was benched in favor of daughters. We were told that our daughter had "attitude" even though she was busy watching was she was trained to do by her town coaches. The DD were NEVER benched. Even with these plays causing runs, they were constantly praised for trying. They never felt they did anything wrong. In fact, one play that was missed at first and caused an eventual run was so basic for 12u but the coaches told the daughter it was a high school play! It was a sight for sore eyes. Playing in favor of their girls cost everyone else success for the season. That same HC that was so welcoming at the beginning ignores us now.
My daughter's view of the whole thing is now tainted. Thankfully she is playing on a much better town All-Star team were she is growing and playing with passion and enthusiasm.

I read this and left the thread and the more I thought about it I had to circle back and share my thoughts. I'm sorry but I am still laughing after reading this post. I know it's rude. I know you went thru a terrible experience. I hope in 10 years you circle back to this thread and read this and can laugh with me.

My first thoughts, after a wave of compassion for you passed over me, made me ask why this was happening at all? What in the world did this head coach and assistants do wrong in life that they felt the need to go to such extremes for their daughters? An entire season dedicated to spotlighting their own daughter? The days of work, the sacrifices, the scheduling headaches, the travel, the practices, and the money spent so their daughters could have this experience. It's mind-boggling to say the least. I envision 3 mothers standing behind the fence with their arms crossed and smirks on their faces staring holes thru the dads' and the coaches peaking over their shoulders at every practice and game. lol

Or I could be wrong.

In 10 years you let me know...........

Thanks for compassion.
It’s hard to see the humor right away with it being so fresh. It’s a pathetic laugh at best for now.
I really don’t know how they can reconcile as coaches letting so many wins miss. Our team was the butt of jokes as my daughter overheard.
But what was clear is that these weren’t coaches but former players pretending to be coaches. They had no idea what they were doing. To be a former player is one thing. To be able to pass that experience on in the form of guidance and instruction is quite another. Here, there was none of it. And they couldn’t take the constructive criticism without being offended. So yes, going through the movements of spotlighting the girl is one thing but if she doesn’t have it it’s an outright embarrassment.
I suppose the dads so badly want their daughters to be stars but can’t see reality so they create it for her by making this team. It’s delusional but it’s a reckoning with what will never be. That’s sad.
