OK... in an attempt to collect what will hopefully be a list of QUALITY/ CERTIFIED ELITE PITHCING instructers that have actually had students go on to college levels due to their instruction.

We all know of the OBVIOUS choices (Chris Minor, Bill Hillhouse, sorry from SWO, soo I know there are many more that need to be added.......)

However, I HAVE TO BELIEVE there are some other EXTREMELY talented and creditable PITCHING INSTRUCTERS in the state of OHIO that need to be listed here, so Orgs, Families, and DDs can fully understand what their options are for training.

PLEASE LIST YOUR CERTIFIED PITCHING INSTUCTERS IN THIS THREAD SO WE CAN BUILD A RESOURCE LIBRARY BY REGION THAT WILL HELP ORGS/FAMILIES UNDERSTAND WHAT OPTIONS THEY HAVE.

Example Post:
- Chris Minor -South West Ohio - Tri - County area(Diamonds & Dreams...) Contact information = XXX-XXX-XXXX AND (reason this resource is viewed as a credible instructor)

I will also like to do the same via seperate thread for Catching and Outfielding.....

Radara McHugh, Northeast Ohio. Radaramchugh@gmail.com

NOTE: This was taken from Radara's bio on the Racers' web site. Pretty much sums up her qualifications.

McHugh had left North Carolina as the program?s career record holder for wins (88), appearances (150), starts (130), innings pitched (861.2), shutouts (46) and strikeouts (686). She was also selected to ACC Top 50 Anniversary Team. Radara was the winning pitcher in the Women?s ASA Open Nationals and the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in 2004. Her senior year at University of North Carolina is the only year for UNC to have ever won the ACC conference tournament in the history of the program.

McHugh has been a vital part of the Racers pitching staff for the past five seasons. She was the winning pitcher in the Racers come-from-behind win (5-4) over the Chicago Bandits to claim Akron?s first National Pro Fastpitch Championship in 2005.

McHugh has inked her name in the NPF record book, claiming the top honor for wins with 48 and innings pitched with 529.2. Her 48-23 record gives her one of the best career marks in NPF history. She has enjoyed one of the longest careers of any pitcher in the circle, rounding out five years of service with the Racers.

I believe Dave Leffew is one of the best pitching coaches in Ohio. His daughter Amie is also a very good pitching coach.

Dave Leffew, Northeast Ohio, pitching@apk.net

Dave is currently an assistant coach at Ashland University. The 2009-2010 season will be Leffew's sixth season on the Ashland staff. Leffew was the head softball coach at Keystone High School in LaGrange, OH, for 20 years, compling a career mark of 428-77. His teams made six trips to the state final four, including four visits to the state title game. In 1999 the Wildcats went 33-0 and captured the Ohio Division II state championship.

In the first five years after his retirement as a head coach Leffew remained on the Keystone softball staff as a volunteer assistant coach. The Wildcats advanced to the state semifinals three times during that span.

Leffew gives private pitching lessons and conducts pitching clinics throughout Northeast Ohio. He has coached 14 All-Ohio hurlers, two All-Americas and two Ohio state champions. Most recently: Tess Sito (Elyria, Cleveland State)

Our daughter goes to Ron, and in his own subtle way, gave her a "come to Jesus" lesson a few weeks back...she sure came around fast! She said "Ron yelled at me...well, he didn't yell, but I got the point!"

Great guy!

There are some very good pitching coaches listed in previous postings. Several are good friends and certainly they are deserving of all of their accolades. Equal to the best of these previously listed is Chuck McNamee.

Chuck has coached a number of All State pitchers, both in Ohio throughout the country. He also has had a number of pitchers who have become All-American collegiate pitchers. He played and pitched for many years himself and was a major contributor towards creating North Union HS into the perennial fastpitch power that it continues to be in Ohio.

The best pitching coach is the one that makes your DD use the proper mechanics and does not worry about hurting your feelings.

There has to be something said for being honest and not just cashing your check every week.

I can really only talk about two pitching coaches from personal knowledge. Our DD was lucky enough to be with Ron Marstiller for seven (or was it more. . .) years. And we are lucky enough to coach one of his present students. Emily Windle-Halpin is the pitching coach for our other two pitchers. We are very blessed to have such a fine pitching staff working with such talented pitching coaches.

I'll second Ron Marstiller. He worked with my dd when she was young and helped build a great foundation for her to continously improve. He has hundred's of pitchers to his credit, but just as importantly, pitchers that refer back to him years after their seasons are finished. Always nice to run into pitchers who have learned pitching, played in college and are coaching who have worked with Ron and have terrific things to say about him (and Les). DD also worked with Kristi DeVries who is no longer in the area. Erica Beach is an exceptional teacher and works with the younger kids. She works leg drive, whip, balance and has drills that the girls can "feel" that isolate the motion and works them very hard. In addition, she encourages the "inside game" with self talk and self correction, etc. There are alot of pitching coaches out there and many are very good and there never is a one size fits all but hopefully, one can find the right fit for their daughter.

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!! I Believe that, but also those who reach a high % of kids at the level you speak, (WHICH CHIP DOES), is the Validation/Certification stamp I'm looking for people to promote.

WORD OF MOUTH IS THE BEST MARKETING ANYWHERE! My oldest DD has been to several Pitching Coaches and I PROMOTE all of them BUT NOT BECAUSE OF MY DAUGHTERS SUCCESS, but based on their Total Body of Work. ^_^!

Mark Pazutto and Mr Derringer' These coaches teach proper mechanics. Teach how the mechanics work, and also teach the mental part of the game , why a certain pitch is thrown and how to throw it. all his girls throw hard with movement on every pitch. His own daughter throws for Kent State , and many other girls going on to div 1 schools. High school girls in state champion ship games , travel ball pitchers winning tournaments every week end.
