As we know the softball community is pretty small and rumors get around pretty easily. I heard one this past weekend that really upset me. Apparently there is a hitting instructor in greater Cincinnati that took one of his student's bat to get it "rolled". Modifications to player's bats are illegal and potentially dangerous. If a player gets injured either by a ball off a souped up bat or if the bats breaks and causes an injury, the person who did the modification (and all who are involved) are subject to lawsuits.

Come on, if you are a hitting instructor and you are pulling this crap get out of the game. If you are a parent or player doing this crap, you need to cease and desist right now! I sent a message to my teams if anyone does anything like this, they will be dismissed from the team and the organization. People we need to do better.

I'm reminded of an incident years ago with the Cincinnati Reds. I believe it was George Foster was having a lot of luck hitting that season and after one of his classic home run blasts the opposing team wanted his bat confiscated and checked to see if the bat was loaded. While in a heated conversation at home plate between the head coaches and the umpires, Foster emerged from the dugout and yelled towards home plate to get their attention and proudly announced the only guns loaded were right here and promptly raised his arms and kissed his biceps one at a time. The crowd went crazy. I still remember the announcers getting so excited while describing the incident. lol

Look, people will cheat. Mentors should be quick to extinguish any cheating in the game. Parents do better by your kids. We have to stand together against practices like this.

I commend coachTEA for taking a stand. Thank you. That's class!!!

If you're so upset about it, call em out! People need to know so they aren't going to that instructor.

along these lines, what is the in game (or OHSAA) penalties for a HS coach & / or Player if illegal bat is discovered? Or if causes injury???

Is penalty the same as for using USSSA stamped bat in a ASA Or High school rules regulated game?

Back to the topic, If I had concrete proof of incident, I'd be calling all involved out across all platforms.
