Chuck is no longer there since SSC Akron is the new ownership group. Owner of SSC Josh Dickey and General Manager MacKenzi and team will be running the softball/baseball facility in Akron(formerly Spano Dome). We look forward to adding this facility to our company and working with all of the teams and programs.

Not cool to throw an unnecessary dig at Chuck. I spent the last 10 winters playing in the winter hs league there and really appreciated and respected all that he did to provide an affordable, great format and well maintained place to play winter games. Not an easy job at all. Once you get to know Chuck its easy to see he's all about the kids. Old school and no nonsense for sure but a great guy, at least in my book.

just curious how your sign ups are going... honestly one thing that turned me off was the 50 minute games. What a waste of time - 50 minutes? heck 60 minutes are not enough. To pay over $1300 for a few 50 minute games just doesn't get me excited to sign our team up.

also i noticed the Saturday league is only 1 game. A lot of travel ball teams have players from far away... 1- 2 hours and some even more than that. If you consider the time it takes for travel alone.... 1 game or even 2- 50 minute games dont really do the job and dont seem worth the time.
maybe thats just my opinion but it might help in the future to adjust if you have trouble filling these up.
I would like to know the hourly rates to rent if that is an option. Please send me a message and we may be able to get some time this winter at your place. Thanks! Coach Dan

thanks for reaching out! The sign ups are going very well. We certainly understand. The Sunday league where the games are 50 minutes you play back to back games(so each team plays two 50 minute games that day). The Saturday league games are 1 hour 20 minutes which we felt was a good amount of time for each team. If you change your mind you can certainly reach out and we can get you signed up. Thanks!

I agree with everything you said. Nobody knows how much Chuck gave to that facility and those girls. He’s the reason the Spano was around for so long and ran it like a well oiled machine. It wasn’t easy keeping a facility like that (dirt floor) clean and as well maintained as it was. He was wonderful to the girls who worked there and to the teams (and their families) he coached. We feel grateful our girls got to work there, play there and for him all these years. Excited for what the new facility has to offer too.

IS CHUCK SHORT GONE HOPEFULLY?????
Chuck was the best thing that ever happened to the Spano Dome. Everything he did was a donation for the teams and kids that played there and he never got a dime for it. I wish there were more Chuck's out there to coach and help kids the way he did. He will be missed by everyone he helped all these years.

How'd everyone do at the first weekend of the winter league? We had fun and got to knock some rust off with a new team. We have 11 players for this, 6 freshman, and 6 pitchers to give looks to. We are grateful this is still offered.
