The one that feels best to the catcher wearing it. Mine uses a Wilson baseball catchers mit. Second one she's had. She can't stand the fastptich ones. Said they look like sissy gloves.

I see it is a 32.5 which is on the smaller size. Most Mizuno's are 34 and Easton is 33. What are some of the pluses and minuses of size?

LILron, what age is your DD?

My dd is a freshman(96 er)
She likes the ease of being able to tranfer the ball easier than with the heavily padded edges of alot of other cathers gloves. And it has one hell of a pop that really gets her pitcher fired up.lol

DD (18U) likes the smaller size. She likes it for the scooping aspect. At the younger ages, the smaller the better. The younger girls can control the smaller mitt much better.

We loosened the lacing where the web attaches to the mitt. It gives the mitt a better pocket that the ball just seems to settle into.

So, smaller mitt, loosen the web.

My dd uses a SSK-MP44 34" Fastpitch catchers mitt. SSK gloves are very hard to find these days, and she absolutely loves it.

The typical fastpitch catchers mitt is 33 or 34 inches in circumference. The fastpitch catchers mitts are designed for a smaller hand than the baseball catchers mitts. The baseball catchers mitts are not designed to trap a 12" softball which equates to a very shallow pocket and occasional "snags" from the padded outer edges of the baseball catchers mitt during transfer. It is easier to scoop a dirt ball with a fastpitch mitt. As with most gloves and mitts, you get what you pay for. A good catchers mitt in a sporting goods store will be anywhere between $150 and $300. Top of the line Easton, Mizuno, Nokona, Wilson, etc. are all very good and it really is a matter of which mitt feels the best on your dd's hand.

Yep. DD has a couple cheap gloves, a Mizumo GXS91 and Easton SFP20. Both are 34". Getting her a new one. I'm between a Liberty E8429 33" and the Nokona BF-3250c 32.5". Both retail for around $220. She tried a friends Liberty and like it but this thread got me thinking the Nokona would be better. Can't decide.

I like that idea. Keep the ball from popping out. I'm gonna loosen her pocket while we look a new glove.

Store in Cincinnati has the leather but not the kangaroo Nokona.

This is exactly right. My daughter used several when she first started but after she tried my rawlings baseball catchers glove that was it . She was very comfortable with it and preferred it to the fastpitch gloves. I have had to restring it from the use, but she does fine with it. It comes down to what you are personally comfortable with

My DD is using an Akadema catchers mitt & is very happy with it. She was using a Mizuno mitt but but just too stiff. The bottom line is preference and how it feels when wearing it.
