Just looking for other people’s experiences when moving from 10u-12u pitching. Obviously distance and 12” ball is the biggest change but any info on loss of speed, average to above average speed, etc would be appreciated.
The biggest challenge for my dd was the ball. You can train to stride the distance down.We also did alot of long toss along with other drills to gain velocity. She had more trouble with spin with the bigger ball than speed. Unfortunately you cant train your hand bigger. She did alot of grip and squeeze training with stress balls and the old fashioned spring grip squeezer thingy. If her mechanics and work ethic are solid she will be fine. Best of luck to you.
My daughter lost 3 to 4 mph immediately after moving to 40' and a 12" ball. It took 3-6 months before her speed was back to where it was at 35' with an 11" ball. I would attribute some of getting the speed back to where it was from simply growing and getting bigger/stronger/faster.
