educate me -- list how the madness did against the final top ten . my guess from watching a lot of ball, this is a guess mind you , is that they never played intensity, doom 95 , doom 96, laser black , laser gold , ohio ice or buckeye heat . thats 70 % of the top ten there. maybe they did play them . but I get the jist someone is looking for respect for a team that had a great year but did'nt schedule high enough to challenge the talent level of the team. Now they are wanting respect. winning the asa regional is a really strong accomplishment but get out and play the best if you want to toot your horn. just my opinion. MD

Just saying dude. . why does everyone take things and make it nasty. . .Look even my 13u team beat the Chain Reaction Ohio Hawks Gold, and I don't go blowing my horn. . .Yeah we would love to be able to afford to take these girls to some of the other areas and we are working towards that goal, but establishing our organization and getting the backing financially has to come first. . .We do make it to GAPPS, and Bat Wars, and our 16's went to State. . .Trust me we will get to those venues. Last year we battled with the Lasers all the time in very close games. . .I know it's the end score that everyone wants, but what I don't get is the need to bash. . .whether it's intended or not, it is there. . .

All I ask is that you just recognize the fact that they worked their butts off and are working hard to get to the top 10.

well dude here are some comments from madness parents from pg 3 and 4 of this thread " look for us in the finals of QOD south" " only one team beat us from ohio this season" " only rain stopped us from being in every final" " we went 60-6 " there is a cross section of why you are getting a small response from me. so chill out , schedule up , see how you do . until then just stop the stat dropping and the screaming for respect. and I don't see any bashing in that. zero. MD

I agree instead of dropping stats and wanting respect play some top 10 teams and beat them. We all got rain and could have won, but the teams in the top 10 got the wins and played the other teams to get the respect. The ASA A nationals are just that A the best teams in the country and I would rather come in 165th at A and say we played the top teams in the country then play and win a consulation tourny. If your team has the money to go to QDS you could have spent that money and went to A nationals that is if you could have qualified against the best teams in Ohio. I give your girls alot of credit what they did is awsome and they do deserve respect ( the girls) not the parents looking for respect. Remember the girls are the ones who play the game not the parents.

Again, I didn't drop stats all I said was at least give them the respect due for the hard work and effort that it took to win the nationals. . . I haven't ever said they should be in the top ten, but I try very hard to look at every thing from and outsiders point of view. Once we start hitting some of the same tournaments then we will see what happens. . .until then all of us can only wait and see. . .

I agree with many of your points, but I'm curious how tough it is for an Ohio team to qualify. There were berths passed down due to 3-4 teams declining berths they had earned and some berths went unused. Was this year's qualifying typical or an aberration due to the economy?

I can only speak for our team, we beat a tough lasers black team in the finals at ASA States we had ZERO losses, in Canton at our other National qualifier we played against the San Diego Thunder and took first place with no losses there either. The San Diego team thought that it would be easy to qualify in Ohio. I know that we had far fewer berths than many states and am proud of the teams that did qualify. I think that many teams had not only economy issues but also team's seemed to be making changes right before nationals and not all agreed to go for personal reasons.

From an outsider looking in: It is a GREAT accomplishment to do what MC Madness-Black did in Maryland. I have seen them play several times and they are definately one of the best teams in the state, no doubt in my mind. BUT, there schedule could have been tougher. I have no doubt they would have competed well at ASA States, Stingrays, Lasers, ASA/USA etc.. But they didnt enter those tournaments. It looked like a pick and choose schedule to be quite honest because it wasn't like they saved a boat load of money playing the tournies they played, and there uni's had to be a small fortune so throw that "were too poor" stuff out the window cause no one is buying that. I think they would have played quite close to intensity, Doom(s), Laser(s), etc.. but unfortunately, theres no evidence. Great team, great run, congrats on a huge tourny win, but dont get carried away.

Madness black wins LaPlata MD. ASA Eastern A nationals, They lost their first pool game 2-3 and never lost again. They travel to the Queen of Diamonds in South Carolina 9/3-9/5 look for them in the finals there.

Congratulations! You should use your automatic "Defending Champion" berth to go to USA/ASA 16U A Nationals in Chattanooga, TN next summer.

We are planning on attending next year's Nationals in Chat. We think it will a great experience....win or lose. I would also like to apologize for our over zealous fans. The MC Madness Black is a second year team in a second year organization. We are still trying to put together a highly competitve team. Maybe we are better than we expected to be by now. Poll rankings mean nothing to me as the coach...however....winning the ASA Eastern last week means a great deal to me, my staff and 12 players. We hope to someday be mentioned in the same breath as some of the other great organizations in the state, but for now, we are working on putting together a highly competitive team. Please stop belittling our accomplishments and let us enjoy our win.

For those creating this backlash by making ridiculus comments....please stop....act like you have won before...like I teach my players......Win with dignity...Lose with humility!

Thank you,
Gary Saunders
MC Madness Coach

Gary, could not have been said better.Who would have thought winning a national be it national A B C or D could create so much bickering among ADULTS on the ofc.Got to say though it does offer some comic relief.

Well said coach-- brief look I saw of your team looked like you had the pitching to hang with anyone. I do want to be clear -- I never belittled your accomplishments, I only commented on the one , or maybe two posters, who seemed to be whining about not being highly enough ranked. Winning a regional is a huge deal. You did Ohio well and I congratulate you. Now that you know you have the horses I'm sure we will see you out in the larger showcases next year, or at least I hope so. MD

Second yr 14U's. Do you think there will be a mix up in the polls with some of the good 13U's coming up this year. Example ( Lasers Orange, Static 97, Doom 97, etc..) Just curious to what some of the opinions are for these teams coming into the mix...

laser gold , laser black and doom 96 are the lead horses , classics have a very good bunch also. I guess alot will depend on who stays where and who goes where. At this age group there is still some physical differences that are obvious between a mature 2nd yr 14u team and a 1st year. And it's hard to overcome. You can compete , but can you beat. thats the hard part for the younger teams. MD

I agree, in my opinion its the biggest jump going from 12U to 14U.

I think that the 96 teams were awfully strong this past year and those top teams that play in 14u(as opposed to 16U) will be the cream of the crop. I dont see alllot of room for 13u's in the top 10 next year. I could be wrong.... But there are about 15 real solid 96 teams that competed well as 13's.
