Way too many variables. Teams comprised of more that 4 girls from the same school cannot compete after the Nationals. HS Volleyball starts up in August and the girls that are involved in that will be missing (there is a thread out there about commitment to the in-season sport). The second weekend in August is one of the main weekends for organizations to hold their try-outs.

Each sanctioning body holds a State Tournament. As far as I know, they are open to any Ohio team. If you are really interested in who is THE #1 team in the state, within that sanction, then get into that tournament.

We already know which sanction ranks #1 so we really don't need to get into a discussion of which sanction is better.

So, after all of what I said, the ASA State tournament is the place to determine this MYTHICAL champion. If you choose not to attend, then get up on the porch and stay out of the way of the big train, oops, I mean big dogs. ;D

Yeah, was thinking that also - after nationals things start going in other directions in early August, FAST.

Rather than the definitive championships, I was thinking of it as more of a fun opportunity to intertwine certain tools, facilities, sponsors (OFC, the "Community of Coaches", general "Fandom", and the Teams) into a more cohesive and interactive activity, with something fun on the line. It is already pretty good within our state, but there are many who would like to continue to drive Ohio travel fastpitch participation upward, and improve Ohio's stature nationally. Just contemplating ways to turbo charge it by having a common interactice and unifying season ending goal. Agree that it wouldn't change what happened at ASA States, or NSA States, or GAPSS or Stingrays (pick your poison).

But, I do think the pride and fun aspects of something like this could push the level of interest, and interaction, maybe create additional "buzz" over the season as the independent and individual weekends of ups & downs play out and are tabulated into a full season's "grading scale" - for pride & fun over a full season (like NCAA football, NASCAR, PGA Golf money leaders or world rankings).

We have the interest and facilities to do something unique like that. In the end, the real goal is to drive more people to OFC, and learn and grow with Ohio fastpitch. It's not about who wins certain events, or season ending championships - it's about developing a more integrated, participatory foundation for Ohio fastpitch, that interests me with the concept.

But, per the reasons you point out, probably just a pipe dream & wishful thinking.
