Is that the Valley Rage Gold team the Sliman's Chargers 14u won against at Ohio Magic PONY tournament. Pretty impressive record. Lefty pitcher isn't that strong, she just has an odd motion that distracts batters. She pitches about average to other 14u teams. No disrespect, just saying... Still, I think this is about the elite teams that play in most of the bigger tournaments against other top teams. I guess you have to play those teams and win to get on the list.

no offense but if the sliman's chargers beat valley rage gold...then they can't be that great....tidalwaves run ruled charger 14u at uncle stan's in north ridgeville

I predict the Predators will do very well , even though they are a 13 year old team. Time will tell , but I was pretty much right on the money last season so why should '09 be any different ?

okay, I'll bite...

I can only speak to what teams we've played or scrimmaged this fall mostly in NE ohio..

Slammers(playing up mostly 16u this year), Akron Sapphires(returned core group plus added 2-Ohio Ice girls, 1-Lazers player), Lazers Red, Valley Xtreme Kiser, all 2nd year 14u teams will be very strong and teams to watch in 2009.

I'm sure I missed some also maybe someone can help me out???

Disclaimer: The opinions expressed here are those of the authors and are not necessarily the opinions of the team, players, parents, or coaches, mentioned in the post.

Figured I'd point that out. Especially being that our girls have only played a local fall tournament and some indoor scrimmages. So, its waaaaaay too early to predict how well our girls may or may not do. But we all love username in any case.

With that said, I couldn't even begin to think who would be at, or near, the top. Just know it isn't us at this point. So many, very, very good 14u teams in OH and the surrounding regions. If I had to pick, then Slammers at the top, but I'm sure there are many that could hang close. A ton of good 13u teams around also. The older the girls get the tighter the competition gets.

Sorry krm0503 , didn't mean to step on anyones toes or create havoc for you or anyone else. As most people know I was banned from the "other board" and I am trying to get this board going so any input I "THINK" will create more posts and bring more people to here , I try.

i doubt any of the 14Us can hang close to the slammers as krm0503 said
i saw the slammers going to nose to nose with the nightmre 16U this fall and there the best team in ohio
didn't the slammers go 5-1 at the 18U college event at akron in octbr?

Don't know all the 14's so can only comment on the 13's we saw this fall. Doom 13's were very strong. Stingrays will be tough as always. Had good games with the Buckeye Heat and Classic 14's also. Hopefully, we will see some of the teams mentioned in Spano in February.

I would say that the top 14U teams are as follows...

1) Ohio Slammers
2) Lasers Red
3) Valley Extream Kiser
4) Akron Sapphires

The Top 13U teams that I've followed are as follows...

1) Cincy Doom 95
2) Lasers Silver
3) Ohio Stingrays Caton
4) Buckeye Heat 95

There should be some great matchups for the summer of 2009, but most of the 14U will not see the Slammers or Lasers Red as they will both be playing a mostly 16U schedule this summer.

Don't forget Ohio Wave, they should be very strong also as older 14u unless there were significant changes.

On paper, Slammers in a class by themselves though. Will be interesting to see how the changes affect them, seems like they are more Laser-like these days with recruiting & rostering. Would be fun to play them, for the test.

There are always some surprise teams, good and bad, and others grow and evolve to new heights over a season.

Can't wait to get outside again!

1. Slammers, in a class all to their own. What a scary line-up, and they are fast!!

2. V.E-Kiser
3. Sapphires- looking forward to seeing them play with the ex-Ice additions.
4. Lasers Red
5. Doom
6. Stingrays
7. Heat 95- see if they are more consistent this year
8. Lasers Silver- this team may surprise many
9. Wave

Teams that might be sleepers: Hurricanes Blue, Maddogs, N.C Spirit, M.V Express, not sure of off season pick ups.

Didn't the two best players off of the Laser red team go over to the Slammers? I thought that they looked pretty good last year but they are mainly a small ball type of team and they lost the most dynamic player that they had in that respect. If they added some power they have decent enough pitching to compete in most 16U tournaments.
Sapphires needed some help and it sounds like they may have got it with the addition of some Ice players.
Stingrays must have raided someone elses roster if they are to be included in that top 5 in the state. They did not have the talent on their younger team moving up to be included there. IMHO
Lasers silver will do ok in 14U this summer because they have some nice pitching and they can hit. Again not sure if they should be in the top 10 yet but we each have our own views.

choosen one --rays were mentioned as 6th . not top 5 ---as far the "raiding someone else's roster " comment ---I would include a well placed profane term that you could do to yourself but that would'nt be nice . it's a free world --post your opinion all you want , but cheap shots will be answered .
