2007 Summer Tournament
Tournament Rules

1. This tournament will be played under ASA rules and use ASA Umpires. This is a sanctioned Tournament. ?[highlight]Pitching rubber will be set at 43'[/highlight]

2. ALL teams MUST be ready to play at the scheduled starting times. Each game has a 1 hour 30 minute time slot. [highlight](BUT no time limit)[/highlight]

3. Warm-Ups: Please use grass areas behind the temporary fence in the outfield or edges of the infield when warming up. [highlight]DO NOT[/highlight] have pitchers warm up in the spectator seating area at ANY time. [highlight]NO FULL INFIELD WARM-UPS [/highlight]

4. Insurance: All teams must carry their own insurance

5. Birth Certificates: All teams must be able to show (copy is fine)

6. NO TIME LIMITS ? weather permitting

7. All teams are guaranteed 9 games unless weather dictates otherwise. In the event of bad weather Coaches will be used to discuss solution.

8. Double Elimination Seeding: 1. ?Best overall record ?2. Head to Head record. 3. Defensive runs permitted ?4. Total runs scored. 5. Coin Toss

9. Protest: $50.00 All protests will be directed to Dale Hamel ? Umpire In Chief or Rick Annen ASA Representative.

10. Scorekeepers: The home team shall be considered the official book. Names & Numbers and positions. The team listed first on the schedule will sit in the third base dugouts.

11. BOTH TEAMS must report the scores upstairs immediately after the game is completed

12. Only official team personnel are permitted in the area upstairs above the concession stand.

13. ALL games are subject to modified time limits at any time due to weather. IF the tournament is rained out or canceled at anytime during the course of play, there will be NO awards given.

You are also encouraged to bring your own teams media guide. There will be a tent set up for coaches and information.

We will be inviting college coaches. I will post up dates on OFC as to who has committed

The "18-under only" format indicates that there will be no 16u, 14u, 12u, or 10u divisions. ?It does not necessarily mean that a deserving 16-under group of girls (who will be playing in both 16-u & 18-u divisions throughout the 2007 season) would be excluded based solely on the age of the girls. ?If the teams' abilities, reputations, and past accomplishments so warrant, they too will ( and should ) be considered for approval by the selection committee. ?That should be the criteria used in any invitational tournament, the "Best-of-Best" included!

Good Luck to the seven returning teams that we know will be back, and good luck to the additional nine that will be chosen and notified sometime this week. ?This will be a GREAT opportunity for some of the premiere teams in the state of Ohio to play other premiere teams in a very challenging format - 9 games minimum over 3 days!!

If not selected... I will still be there to watch some excellent softball! ? ? ?

Best of the Best 18U Only should mean just that, "Best of the Best 18U only."

Unless there are openings, why knock out an 18U team to put in a 16U team, in an 18U only tournament. JMHO

I'm not saying that there aren't talented enough 16u teams...I'm just saying that since everyone want's to see their daughter get recruited by a college, why allow a 16u team to bump an 18u team when they aren't old enough to be approached by college's? Let's get the older girls all the exposure possible and the young ones should just wait their turn. JMHO

I also agree. One of the big attractions of this tournament to me is that it has been advertised as an 18U only tournament. I would be really disappointed if this changed. We can find 18U brackets mixed with 16U teams in most other tournaments.

I thought the Stingrays were coming back from last year. Did they change their mind?

Back to questions that were asked previously...aren't Black Ice and Wolfpack Black 16U teams?

If so, even though this tourney is advertised as 18U only, it really isn't, and these teams knocked out other 18U teams. ?:'(

I guess it is up to interpretation...maybe the wording needs to be clearer...is this an 18U DIVISION only (open to 16U or 18U teams - whoever deemed competitive enough) or is it 18U TEAMS only.

I think the purpose of this tournament is to get the best teams together. Even though these teams are 16u they are extremely good teams and could easily be playing at the 18u level. They also have girls who are looking for college exposure and because of the age cut-off date that was changed a few years ago the exposure begins at 16u. There are plenty of other 18u tournaments that 16u teams play up in.

[highlight]18U ONLY[/highlight] refers to an 18U division only......Which means that there is [highlight]NO [/highlight]16U division, [highlight]NO [/highlight]14U division, [highlight]NO [/highlight]12U division,.....etc.

That does not mean a 16U team would not be allowed to enter. Last year we took only 18U teams, but we did have 16U teams send in entry forms! ?We just did not accept them last year. We also had teams from out of state want to attend and we did not accept them as well. Maybe next year we will accept out of state teams...who knows????
This year we felt that the 2 teams mentioned above were very deserving. We had at least 2 other 16U teams interested and 1 of those teams this year were on the bubble.

As for the 16U Wolfpack Black and the 16U Black Ice......These 2 teams submitted forms along with there fees just like all the other teams and the selection committee accepted the 16 best teams for the entry form application process.....and yes they did get in and a few other 18U teams did not get in.

Now I know someone will come back and state "these aren't the "BEST" teams" ...well they are the "BEST" teams that applied in our minds and that is just our opinion......We would have loved to have ALL the teams that sent in application be accepted but we just don't have the room or time slots to do so.
