I believe 200' - in which case they would go by furthest ball hit for the younger age groups.

Has anyone else looked at the logistics of this tournament? We have and we don't know how they are going to get it done in three days with the amount of teams in only three days. Number of diamonds is not an issues, they have 32. If they only have one round of elim games on Saturday, some ages will have to play 5 or 6 games on Sunday to win it - and these are not losers bracket games. This is single elim.

Not to be ignorant or a thread jacker, but Berliner Park has 31 fields. There is no diamond 3, hasn't been for over 20+ years.

Good luck to all.

One of our families had a print-out at last week's tournament and suffice it to say we were all a little confused trying to envision how things would play out at the All-Sanctions Midwest. Too many things that have to be done in the next 12 days (some of which I can actually control) to spend much more time worrying about it. (And anyway, I'm sure we'll all have a field day after the tournament analyzing how things went).

You can still hit on field 3. Just will be in the cages!!!!!

I would hope that the TD awards something better then he did last week at the Gem City tournament. There was no team (sponsor) trophies and 1st & 2nd place teams got the same little metal.
With 160 teams participating at $425.00 each thats $68,000. Out of that I'm sure he could spring for a nice 1st place and 2nd place team trophy for each age group. Wouldn't cost more then $100 or $150 per group.

You can get a really nice 20"+ 1st place team trophy for less than $50-60 from places like Crown Trophy, and other places. And buying in volume would net an even lower rate, I'd imagine.

What is everyone doing for the HR derby?? You have to supply your own pitcher and catcher, so is there any hired guns out there looking to throw some HR BP. I know of a few girls looking for pitchers to throw to them. Let me know.

My DD is need of a pitcher for this event as well, We are looking for someone to pitch to her.

The way I read the rules they get just 8 pitches

Can the pitcher throw overhand? I didnt see any guidelines for pitching in the home run derby. How about the fastest pitching contest? Can the girls crow hop or get running start ?

The rules I reviewed did not specify what kind of pitches for the HR derby.

Just heard a report that the fences were at 120 feet. Don't know if that's for all ages or not, this was from a 12u entrant.

Just returned from Berliner and the competitions. I think our 16U player won the HR contest!!!! The events are moving slowly in my opinion.

Fields were wet but no water standing. The city crews were working hard on them. The sun was coming out when we left (around 3:00) Seems everything will be ready for tomorrow. Hope the rain holds off on Saturday. Good luck to everyone.

My dd participated in the HR derby at that age and I don't think the fences were that short--they looked to be 200 feet and if anything maybe 180 feet at the corners.

They did move the fences back for the 18u contest ~I'd estimate an additional 20 feet

But...I am no expert--just my opinion

fences at 10u were 130 ft. for home run derby. 8 pitches was tough on the girls. OR should I say the coaches that were pitching.
