Are all teams and coaches like this?

I have been around this sport for a very long time. I have experienced great successes in that time without resorting to any of these sorts of behaviors that I commonly witness with my own eyes and read about on this site. I get many calls from my friends and those that I respect in this sport about concerns they have about the direction that some of the things are going with our sport. For instance, why is "re-branding" so popular this year in our area and is it necessary? I can report to you that there are many organizations both inside of Ohio and all the way across the country that are PROUD of their names that do not signify "regionality" or add some "super man adjective" to make them sound better. That is their choice to do but I am here to tell you the TRUTH based on experience and here it is...you don't NEED to! As an example...Chicago Bandits are very respectable but they do not call themselves the "Illinois Bandits"...they are PROUD of the "CITY" that they identify with and that is enough for them because of the QUALITY of what they do. I could also name off MANY independent teams over the years that were not associated with a large organization but achieved great success due to the quality of the players and coaches involved. TODAY those coaches are scooped up by organizations trying to build credibility and they go to them but they don't have to do it. I am telling you that if you are a great coach that draws players you could remain independent and compete with ANY of the top organizations out there...JMHO.

Nailed it. Same experience as OP, except we had a plan to go to every tryout possible until we had a firm two-way commitment.

    What does dis-branded mean?

True Oh honorable honest1, So it's not ok to strive to be a better organisation,we should all just worship to most highest Bandits. Not me I'm looking for the org that's going to have the highest standards, most affordable exposure schedule i can handle, and the best coaches available.Look at all the better orgs, that have been and still are changing, just not putting a name on it.Un fortunately we get a few parents whining about teams not holding them a spot , and the whole rebranding thing comes into question.imop oh honest1

Re-branded and dis-banded. For background see the original post in this thread, and also search the forum for "rebranding" and read through some of the comments that relate to OP's experience.

I sense some condescension Okie...why? For the record...I am in no way connected to the Chicago Bandits organization. If you read my post you would know that I said its a choice that we all have the right to make. I am simply saying that whether you are a team that LACKS talent or one that has GREAT talent that is what you will be regardless of what you have as a "tag" in your org or team "name". I do not wish to offend anyone and I do support organizations/teams trying to get better. I just think that the best ones do it themselves rather than trying to steal from those that have. Not pointing ANY organizations out at all...just giving my opinion on the issue...I RESPECT yours too.

Honest1 (no "true Oh" tag needed...lol)

To be honest, based on the nasty and borderline threatening nature of some of the PM's I've received in my short time on this board, I think for now I will choose not to offer any further personal details.

Chicago is the 3rd largest city in America! They have a larger population than approx. 15 states.......So if you are from that area - then it makes good sense for them to play under that tag.
Looks like gunner gives everyone who doesn't have an opinion that matches his the Thumbs Down! No wonder the Admins took them away once before - it was people who just had an axe to grind & no real reason for disliking a post that many, many others thought spoke the truth - good or bad.........It is not hard to figure out which 01 team the OP was talking about that folded, that gunner was a part of also......makes it easier somehow to bash & leave everyone wondering which of the possible half dozen families it could be then to stand behind your words.....

It is so easy to come on a site under a screen name & be able to say things you would never attempt to say in person. I really wish the Admin's would make everyone that posts on this site make known who they actually were. It would def weed out the many cowards we have seen pop up in threads! If you have something to say on this site - then say it Proud & let all know who you are!!!

Glad that the girls in these situations have found a team. Looks like there are plenty of teams that will be back out there looking to fill rosters this weekend too.....So all should be fine......

Below is the PM I sent you. Not sure where there was any bullying? But you did sign up the very day you decided to "Thumbs Down" the post, which 9 others had "Thumbed Up".......I straight out asked if you joined just for that purpose or if you decided to take a 2nd screen name to vent your frustrations.

But once again, you not once have been able to tell me one thing that was wrong with my original post. And I'd like to know anything wrong with the below PM?
Your only response was "Cool your, jets, hoss" lol
    **************************************************************************************
So did you just join today to come on the site & dislike posts that speak the truth????
Or are you already a member who decided to get a 2nd Profile to hide behind????

Please explain to me what you Disliked about my post?
Only spoke the truth & told the story from both sides.......I have seen coaches make offers & be lead on by girls & parents, who kept them hanging waiting & hoping for that Golden Egg offer....In the mean time, that coach loses out on Quality players & then finds out the girl they put all their eggs in's basket has decided on another team.

No one in the thread mentioned the OP's Coach who didn't tell his team they were folding cause the organization didn't want them back - He should have been upfront, but may not have known till last minute. When a Player & Family commits - It is suppose to be for one year!!! Till 1st of August.......then it is a whole new ball game.

I told both sides of the story.........So I hope since you were big enough to give my post a Thumbs Down - You are at least Big enough to explain why??? I'm pretty sure you are not willing to tell who you are, cause it is so much easier to hide behind a computer screen & name.......

I forget, was that the comment where you mis-represented the outcome of our tryout experience? Or the one where you used the coded scatological reference while mis-representing my previous comments?

Are you sure you're not leaving out the part where I explained that I had tried several times to reply to your comment and also to your PM but was kicked out each time and had to send multiple emails to the admins before the issue was resolved?

Bear in mind, also, that your page-long diatribe was in response to a single thumbs-down from a brand new user who had yet to make a single comment.

If a coach makes an offer it is the coach's responsibility to put a time frame on that offer. Usually offers are held for 24 to 48 hours, after that the coach will continue looking to fill the spot. Parents you also need to understand the coach is trying to fill his roster. He/she can't wait 4 or 5 days for you to hit every tryout possible then make you decision. That being said if a coach makes an offer and tell the player and parents that they will hold the spot till the end of the weekend then coach honer your offer. If you don't , the softball community is small and eventually it will get out that you are shady and can't be trusted.
