You will also see more of this at something like ASA States than you will playing at a lower level tournament. I also noticed at ASA National events they really inspect.

I have been told that all ASA / USA qualifying tournaments will require compression testing for all bats in 2015 across all ages groups. The liability issue is driving ASA to make these changes. Already have heard about some lawsuits being considered against ASA in other states for not insuring a safe playing environment in line with their regulations.

Somewhere between reality and winning the lottery.
The myth is that they are shaved. A rattle in a bat and being tossed is nothing new, same with the wobble on a Stealth. It is known that when one of those 2 happen, the bat will most likely exceed the limits or be broken and then it's a safety issue. We took the wrapper off a Miken Chill, and a Worth 2Legit, and hit them in a cage. Both had a rattle after a bucket of front toss. If a newer bat gets tossed for a rattle, I'd be on the phone with the MFG getting a replacement without counting against the warranty!

Agree that the bats are not shaved, that is for wood bats. These bats are rolled to accelerate the break in.

Really? Go to youtube and search on how to shave a bat. 90% of the time, they are put on a Lathe with a shaving attachment that is inserted to "shave" the inside to thin out the walls to a predetermined thickness. Then you have the do it yourself guys who hone it out using Home depot tools. Did you ever hear about putting bats in a turkey fryer of boiling water? That was done back in the day as well to melt the glue in the fibers supposedly. Rolling is a whole different process. Playing men's ball for any length of time will open your eyes to all kinds of crazy stuff. Unfortunately, it was done by those at the lower levels. Do some research before you throw out a thumbs down.
