im a catcher and i personally like having my hand behind my leg i find that it is easier for me for my throw down and pick offs and i think it is a lot safer i usally have my hand sitting on my calf or touching my ankle...it all depends on what is more comfortable for you.

Just for you, Lenski...DD has been doing this for one year now...went to the hand behind the shin guard for a couple of weeks and then went back to this. she's very comfortable with it and she is quicker on the release.

Sweet secondary position Honor! Great balance. How old is this young lady? She reminds me of my dd when she was around 9 and 10. If she moves her throwing hand down more towards the wrist, it will increase her protection and it will create an easier transfer because once she catches the ball, when she turns her mitt to expose the ball the free hand will be right there to secure it. Congrats! Very nice technicals at such a young age.

Make a fist and place it behind the glove. If you talk to anyone worth their weight in the next level and they wll tell you the same thing.

Thanks, Lenski!

She is 10. She will turn 11 next week. Her arm is still developing but she works very hard with her catching coach to get there. I will make sure she moves her fist towards her wrist at your suggestion. Thanks!! :)
