Finesse Fastpitch, based out of Wixom, MI, has made its way into northwest Ohio. Be sure to visit the Finesse website at www.finessefastpitch.com to learn more about this wonderful organization. Finesse 05' - Henegar (previously known as Wizard Young Guns) are looking forward to an exciting 2016/17 campaign. The Finesse 05' roster is made up of players from southeast Michigan and northwest Ohio. The roster is made up of strictly 2005 birthdays and includes girls with a desire to be the best both on and off the field. The coaching staff consists of Head Coach Jeremy Henegar and Assistant Coaches Jon Stacy and Shane Chamberlin. Finesse 05' will be practicing out of the Total Sports Complex located in Rossford, Ohio during the cold months. Total Sports is a beautiful facility and is currently experiencing some expansion with the addition of a dome. Be sure to visit the Total Sports web site at http://totalsportscomplex.com to learn more about the facility and services offered. Finesse 05' will be keeping this profile up to date with scrimmage and game schedules, as well as a tournament or two we plan to host. Coaching staff, players, and player's families are excited for the 2016/17 season and look to build upon the excitement generated during the 2015/16 Young Guns campaign!!

Coaches Jeremy, Shane, and Jon attended both days of the Finesse tryouts in Wixom, MI over this past weekend, looking to add that special player to the roster. We were impressed with the level of talent and the sheer numbers in attendance each day. We are happy to report last night we made an offer to our 11th player and her family accepted without hesitation. With the development of our roster now behind us, the coaching staff is ready to hit the ground running in preparation for the 2016/17 softball season. We realize an 11U roster, playing against 04 teams will be a challenge but we are confident in our rosters grit, determination, and dedication to the process!

Finesse 05' - Henegar (FKA Wizard Young Guns) will be hosting our annual friendly on Saturday, 5-6-17. This year we are looking for those teams made up of 2005 birthdays to spend sometime at the well maintained and spacious (4 fields) Homecoming Park in Holland, Ohio. We are booking 8 teams for a 4 GG (weather permitting) at a cost of $200 per team. Each contest will have one ASA/OHSAA certified umpire and our parents will have a concession stand with food and drink options. Parking is free and there is no gate fee for your families and fans. Our tournament director (aka head coach) is Jeremy Henegar, please contact him at 419-367-0653 (call/text) or by email at maddluke@bex.net. Thanks for the consideration!!!

Sadly the USSSA Pumpkin Smash Tournament slated for this past Saturday (9-17) in Maumee, Ohio was completely rained out.

The USSSA Pumpkin Smash originally scheduled for 9-17 (rained out) was rescheduled for 9-24-16. It was a beautiful day for some fall softball!! The Finesse - Young Guns took to the field for the first time v. 12U talent. The results were not the greatest but the experience was so extremely valuable. It is this experience that we hope will fuel their fire during winter training. Here are the results:
    Finesse - Young Guns v. Compuware = 6 - 6 tie
    Finesse - Young Guns v. SGS Magic - Williams/Young = 6-2 loss
Finesse - Young Guns v. Total Softball Black Ice = 8-2 loss
Finesse - Young Guns v. Lady Irish = 8-6 win

This weekend, Finesse 05' is traveling north and competing in the USSSA Octoberfest Challenge in Livonia, MI. Sounds like mother nature will cooperate and provide us with some top notch fall softball weather conditions. This will represent our last outdoor event in 2016, as we will begin our indoor training in November.

Finesse 05' wrapped up their fall outdoor season during this past weekend as we participated in the USSSA Octoberfest Challenge in Livonia, MI. This was our first visit to Rotary Park and it presented as a very well maintained facility. The deep backstop on diamond #1 really benefited the teams with solid catching : ) Ultimately the Tournament ran into a lot of rain on Sunday. The weather forecast eliminated a pool play game on Sunday as the TD looked to get right to bracket play, smart move! Here are the results:
    Finesse - Young Guns v. Eagles 12U = 4-1 win
    Finesse - Young Guns v. Turnin2 = 11-5 win
    Finesse - Young Guns v. Eagles 12U = 4-2 win (semifinal game)
Championship game Finesse - Young Guns v. Eagles 11U = canceled due to rain : (
Based upon runs surrendered, we were awarded the runner-up trophy and the Eagles 11U was crowned the champion. Finesse 05 now prepares for our indoor winter training @ Total Sports in Rossford. We will sprinkle in an indoor event here and there to keep the girls competitive appetite at bay until we can hit the outdoor season running in April 2017.

Tomorrow marks the beginning of our indoor training season....players and coaches are excited to enjoy the accommodations offered by Total Sports of Rossford, Ohio. One our biggest deciding factors in making the change from the Fast Wizard club to Finesse was the quality of the indoor training facility. The business relationship between Finesse and Total Sports allows Finesse teams to train within wonderful facilities all while keeping the player fees extremely competitive.

Finesse 05 showed a little rust over this past weekend at Tiffin University. FYI, if you make a visit to the Heminger Center during the indoor season please be sure to dress in layers and bring along blankets, it gets cold! The coaching staff was encouraged by the willingness of the girls to compete even when down and brush off a mistake in anticipation of the next play. These are friendlies (aka glorified practices) and our performance will provide us a benchmark to measure against come future indoor tournaments and the spring/summer season.
    Here are the results:
Finesse 05 v. Total Softball Black Ice = 15-5 loss
    Finesse 05 v. Dirt Devils = 8-8 tie
    Finesse 05 v. Outlaws 05 = 7-0 loss
(these were 55 minute drop dead friendlies)

Finesse 05' had a nice trip to the Heminger Center @ Tiffin University this past Saturday (1-14). From a coaching perspective we were looking for improvement since our last indoor tournament and we were pleasantly surprised. The girls played solid defense behind our three pitchers who gave up a total of 2 hits over the course of three friendlies. Our bats showed some life as the girls totaled 18 hits during the day. Here are the results:
    Finesse 05' v. Upper Thunder = 17-1 win
    Finesse 05' v. Wizards Eclipse = 12-2 win
    Finesse 05' v. Blackhawks Uproar = 14-0 win
(these were 55 minute drop dead friendlies)

Finesse 05' has been steadily working on softball throughout these cold months at Total Sports in Rossford, Ohio. Finesse 05' will next be in action on 2-20-17 during the Presidents Day Blast hosted by Total Sports (Rossford) and within their newly constructed, spacious, and climate controlled dome. Game times for these friendlies are 7:45am, 9:10am, and 10:35am. Hoping to see evidence of all their hard work paying dividends during live game situations.

On 2-20-17, while many kids were enjoying their day off from school due to President's Day, the Finesse 05' roster took to the diamond at Total Sports (Rossford) and participated in the President's Day Blast. If you have yet to visit the dome at Total Sports - Rossford, you are missing out! During this tournament the girls demonstrated all their hard work during this winter is paying off. The coaching staff was impressed with the improvement both on defense and offense. Here are the results:
    Finesse 05' v. Batbusters 11U = 10-5 win
    Finesse 05' v. NWO Heat - Clark = 9-7 win
    Finesse 05' v. Maddness 11U = 4-2 win
By winning all three of their contests, the Finesse 05' team earned the crown of President's Day Bash Champions and improved their overall record to 7-2-1. The overall record does not include several friendlies Finesse 05' has participated in since the Fall of 2016.

On 3-19-17 the Finesse 05' squad participated in the Shamrock Showdown at the Total Sports Facility in Rossford, Ohio. Total Sports is our team's home venue during the cold months. If you have not visited be sure to do so, it is a wonderful facility. #perksoffinesse This tournament was a 3 game event and here are the results:

    Finesse 05' v. Rebel Heat 12U = 9-2 win
