Mike, thanks for the updates. It is so nice to hold out for 12 teams at 10U. Don' know if you know how much this promotes softball in Ohio. For a big-high quality tourney to lead the way on this is awsome!!! :) :) :)

Bink,

Personally I think the 10u division is a fantastic division to have. I have seen these teams play, and most of them really have a great time playing and the competition is good. We would never eliminate this division.

What worries me a little is the number of 10u teams that are entering other tournaments (and even ours, it has been hard attracting teams). I have seen some tourneys eliminate the 10s all together because of lack of teams. I think there are a lot of 10u teams out there, but they shy away from the tourney scene because they think the kids aren't ready for that type of ball. Each team has to make that call. But if I may add, I have had teams in the past who have gone 0-4 in our tournament and still tell me it was the funnest weekend of their season, not just because it was our tournament, but because the kids got a taste of tourney ball and they learned from their experience.

I think another issue with 10u teams is most don't play in 7-10 tournaments a summer. Most only play 3-4 tournaments. This make fighting for their entry tough. Not enough to go around.

Good point, Lionsfp. I know at this age, a lot of teams are worried about over-working young kids. It is a tough call for teams. Some want to play a rugged schedule, others (most?) want to play a "league" schedule with some tourneys thrown in here and there.

Some of these teams have 11 year olds on them, and I think 11 year olds can handle a longer season. On the other hand, some teams have 8-9 year olds on these squads, so they probably don't want to over work them. Still, it is a neat division to watch play.

Mike, Have you filled the last spot for 10U yet? If you haven't filled it yet and want one of the best 10U teams I've seen in awhile, try and find the contact info for the Valley Sting 10U!

Check with Dave Anderson at Thunderplex, they play alot there. I would assume he would have the coaches names and contacts.
I email bink one of the parents I know on the teams email address. So hopefully you guys should be able to find out something.
