Winner Bracket semis, we beat the Frost (7-2). Just started to play the winners bracket finals against the TN White Lightning but the heavens opened up like never before. Half hour later the TD cancelled the rest of the tourney. Then it went to the tie breakers, first runs given up, both us & WL only gave up 4 all weekend. Then it went to runs scored which we had almost double their total. Thus the final results were:
1. Static '97
2. TN White Lightning
3. Team Synergy
4. Static '98
5. Frost
I want to give a little credit to my '97 team for going undefeated. They showed up to play this weekend especially Sat night & Sun. Pitching staff only gave up 4 runs all weekend w/ issuing a total of 3 walks & a shutout of Team Synergy - their coach told me that was their first time being shutout in 1.5 yrs. I also want to give huge props to our Static '98's which fought hard all weekend & played great. Nice job Les & the girls!!!
As far as the scouting report, the Lightning & Synergy are the real deal. The Lightning has a pitcher throwing consistentaly 55-58 w/ a 38 mph devistating change. She is dynamic but w/ a lot of attitude. They are big & atheletic & also have a very strong catcher w/a cannon. Their MO is to play small ball & score a few runs & then handed it over to their flame thrower.
Team Synergy has very good pitching & hit the ball extremely well. Their trouble spot is inconsistency in the infield. The had the Lightning beat in the semis but SS made 2 errors w/ one of them being a drop of a pop up to end the game but instead allowed the Lightning to tie & then get a hit w/ the next batter to win it.
Frost is also pretty good but had trouble w/ pitching consistency. The had brought in a big lefty to pitch in this weekends tourney - she threw hard but got behind hitters & had to lay it in their & teams took advantage. Frost also played a ton a small ball & tried to create offense by running agressively.
The tourney was nicely ran, fields were incredible, & cost was only $225.
