Ohio Slamforce 18U is a college showcase team looking for 1 more player to round out the 2017/2018 roster. We are open to any position, except for pitcher, if you are the right fit. Our 2017/2018 team is a mix of college committed/signed players and players still in the recruiting process. We will play a schedule that both challenges our college committed players without extensive travel, but continues to give players still in the recruiting process college exposure.
Our fall schedule will include a Stay in Softball charity event, Best of the Best in Massillon, and possibly one other tournament. The winter schedule will include one indoor tournament (Thiel College) and one team camp (probably Akron, or YSU). The summer schedule will likely be 6 tournaments to include, Lasers, GAPSS, Great Lakes Showcase, and a few others. Our schedule is geared toward exposing our players to the colleges they want to attend.
Last season we graduated 8 Seniors. All of the seniors (7) that desired to play college ball earned scholarships at Kent State, 2 at Ashland University, Lake Erie, 2 at University of Mount Union and one to UNOH.
ALL of our players receive weekly 2 hour team defensive training from fielding/defense expert, Bob Hoiles and ALL our players receive weekly 2 hour offensive training with one of the best hitting instructors around, Lance Schmidt. Pitching and catching instruction is also available to our athletes by former Division I players and instructors along with Speed & Agility classes through PBA Training. We believe this high level training is not commonly found in other organizations and we feel its imperative to continue developing our players so they can succeed at the collegiate level. The indoor facility is located at 1469 West Main Street, Alliance, Ohio 44601, about 1 hour from the western Pennsylvania border.
Head Coach Scott Powers and Assistant coach, Mike Sirohman work to help girls through the recruiting process and we communicate with college coaches to promote our players. We will be reinforce the training received from Bob and Lance. This team will focus on Showcases and tournaments that will bring college exposure for the players.
