I'm not sure whether to be enraged or saddened. Or both. My DD is in 8U and I would hope the years ahead would show me far more good than bad. How's that saying go? "You don't know what you don't know."
Personally I find myself curious what others consider boorish behavior by parents? I've seen coaches berate umps from time to time at higher age brackets and catcalls from parents to said umps. Personally I think umpire calls tend to even out over the course of the game but what do I know?
In the course of trying to teach our DDs to grow and mature through this wonderful game I sometimes worry about the disservice cast upon them by the people who are on the other side of the fence who are supposed to love them above all things - their parents.

This doesn't just happen in softball; check out parents in the schools, stores, church, and other sports.
Too many parents feel the need to be with their kids every second they aren't on the field, back off and let them be!
Best thing ever was DD's 12U coach, our first year in travel, made girls and parents sign behavior contract. Near the top of the list was that parents weren't allowed in or near the dugout and were discouraged from hanging with the girls during breaks. Kept parents from "coaching" girls and girls learned to stand for themselves. Parents got along because they spent so much time together and the girls respected the coach and the game. Also near the top was the 24 our rule for talking to coach about whatever parent was angry about. Those lessons have stuck to this day, DD is now 19.
