Keith, I forgot to mention I like how positive you were towards your girls. Standing in the 3rd base coaches box: quote "you got this kid".

that elite 8 event is a super super idea, we (wild thangs ) were close to being able to add it to our schedule but with other things already scheduled we just could'nt pull it off. But I love the idea. My kid could care less about another medalion or trophy , she wants to compete. MD

Thanks. I'm still learning, but I was always way too tough on my own dd (the shortstop) over the years and have gotten better at just trying to keep it positive. For all of them. They're just up there trying their best, especially at 3:30 am! Not all the way there yet, but getting better each week even at understanding a young girls perspective on things. We'll look forward to seeing you guys in Zanesville and Wheeling. The only problem with that is, its your turn for the win, and we'll probably see T's best!

As for our pitcher, thanks for the comment. I'll pass it along to her. What was also tough for her was that she was not going to pitch that game. That whole ordeal in the first inning was because our planned pitcher felt a little too groggy to give it a try, all of the sudden, and wasn't even going to play, but she had batted already. We then had to make the pitching change on the spur of the moment. She did great. And lucky for us, the girl who was going to sit out decided she could give right field a try until she woke up. I do apologize for the little bit of drama there at the beginning. Both teams did a great job. Your girls seemed very into it also and are obviously very well coached. We'll catch you guys in Zanesville at the latest.

A Fall Tournament with all the best teams invited would be a great ideal!!! It would have to be centrally located, with double elimination being the only true indication of a champion, and a SEPTEMBER holiday would be an ideal time to start an Ohio FASTPITCH tradition!!!

With this date most teams would have a 4 week break and most tryouts are finishing up. You guys have fired me up on this ideal!!! Let's keep the fire stoked by tossing this ideal with all the top coaches/teams!!! ?;D

Lee,
I know the perfect TD to pull something like this off. He has run several big Baseball tourneys in the CIncy area. I think he has retired but maybe we could work on him this weekend at the Doom Madness Tourney. You know who he is.

I'll tell you an idea we were kicking around for a fall tournament. It would be called "Border Wars" We were looking at having 3-4 teams from each state (Indiana vs. Ohio in our location). The Ohio pool would play only teams from the Indy pool. Each win is worth a point. The state with the most points wins the "War" and each player would get a medal or something. This could work in each corner of the state (NE Ohio Vs. PA) ?(Cincy area vs. KY) (Toledo area vs. Michigan). Columbus teams would be "hired muscle" for wars. It would be fun to see all of the Ohio girls united cheering for their state's teams to win.

make sure to include some western PA teams as possible invites. We're close enough to the OH border, we're almost part of Ohio. Except when it comes to the Steelers that is. >:(

Seriously though, it does sound like a good idea. The only thing with running it that late is that while its great tryouts are over, which team does an org bring? The one that competed during the summer or the one resulting from tryouts? Plus what about players moving up in age? They may already be involved in their next team whether it be same organization or a different one. Not trying to dampen the idea, as its a very good one. Just a couple of things to think about also.

^^^ I've always been under the impression that once Nationals (ASA, NSA, Pony or USSSA) end, then it's on to the next age group. So for example, an older 14u team at Nationals...playing in a "BEST OF THE BEST" tourney the next month in SEPTEMBER, would now be considered a 15U team. The reasoning behind this tournament is getting together all the top teams in one tourney...not who wins a trophy...JMHO though...lol. :)

Bink, thinking about Nationals, what if this was the format to get to Nationals. a new system. States, Regionals on to Nationals. Kind of the way the little league world series is set-up. Make it International as well. Asia, Australia and Europe have some great teams. When I played ball. Connie Mack 18U. State Champions got to pick-up two players from the state tournament and one player from the regional. If everyone knows going into it, it would make for an interesting format.

On to starting a regionally Top Ranked tournament.
1. Best facilities to host?
2. Tournament Director?
3. Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virgina, New York? What is the limit?
Teams included based on a true coaches poll.
4. Do you seperate first year 13U teams and second year 14U teams?
5. No Trophies, every girl gets a T-shirt saying she played in this tournament.
6. ONN broadcast of games
7. Texas Roadhouse concession stand
8. A Jenny Finch kissing booth...lol... to pay for balls, use of facility and umpires.

There will be many games where the players would ask "Where is the coach"?

This is interesting.......You met him and you made it out alive. You didnt melt...or develop some sort of tourettes syndrome where you're cursing, womanizing, or now making racial slurs.

Out of curiousity I see Daddy started this post before his suspension is 12,000 plus hits some sort of record?
