MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park (Pa.) University catcher Hailey Leitner batted .556 in six games to be named River States Conference Softball Player of the Week from March 25-31.
A freshman from Coraopolis, Pa., Leitner was 10 for 18 on the week as the Pioneers won all six games, including a 4-0 weekend in RSC play. On the week, she tallied three runs, three doubles, a homer and seven RBIs. There was also one walk and one stolen base.
Leitner was 3 for 3 with a double, homer and three RBIs in a 9-8 win over Ohio Christian. She was 2 for 2 with two doubles and three RBIs in the nightcap, a 4-0 victory. She was 3 for 6 in a doubleheader sweep of Cincinnati Christian and had two hits on the day at Waynesburg earlier in the week.
Point Park (10-13, 5-3 RSC) will be in action this weekend at Mdway (Ky.) and Asbury (Ky.).
