ATHERTON, Calif. – After rain cutting their trip short, the Hawks were able to get two games in over the weekend but dropped both of them to Menlo College, 7-1 in Game 1 and 15-7 in Game 2.

With the losses, the Hawks drop to 9-13 on the season and 0-6 in GSAC play. The Oaks improved to 20-13 and 5-1 in conference play.

The Oaks jumped all over the Hawks in Game 1 with four runs in the bottom of the first inning. SDC scored their only run in the top of the second as Kayla Mack hit a solo homer to lead off the second. Menlo added two runs in the second and one in the fourth.

Samantha Campos led the game with two hits.

The Hawks were able to grab a small lead in the second game with a run in the opening half inning. Jordan Neal tallied an RBI groundout that scored Campos from third for the 1-0 lead. In the second inning, Nicole Whitney added an RBI single up the middle scoring Bailey Romano. Emily Espino then hit a sac fly to score Whitney, giving the Hawks a 3-0 lead.

But in the bottom of the second, the Oaks scored six runs to take the 6-2 lead, then five runs in the third for a 11-3 lead.

Trailing 12-4 heading into the fifth, the Hawks attempted a comeback and scored four runs. Mack was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded for the first run of the inning. Maritza Martinez then singled home Harris for the second run. Romano ended the scoring with a 2 RBI triple plating Mack and Martinez but the scoring stopped in the inning while the Oaks were able to run-rule the Hawks in the bottom half of the inning.

SDC will have a 10-day break before their next games in Phoenix on March 27.
